OOC: Spoilers for The Flash season finale..I know it was in May but just in case someone hasn't seen it.
Barry finally stopped when he was a good ten or fifteen miles from town. He wasn't tired of course, it was just that he still wasn't completely sure just how far he could go before the Seal took him back. Taking a deep breath, he walked over and sat down underneath a tree. It was quiet out here, it must be someone's farmland or something, he thought. Wherever he was, he was alone and that was what he needed right now. He'd resisted for weeks but he'd finally given in and watched the TV show that bore his nickname...The Flash...but he hadn't told anyone that he'd done it. How could he even begin to explain that he found a way to go back in time, a way to possibly save his mother's life but in the end he hadn't done it. He'd stopped himself, a future version of himself had stopped him. It didn't make sense and he'd lived it, he'd seen it happen but still it made no sense. None of what he'd seen made any sense, not one bit of it and he wondered what happened after Eddie had sacrificed himself. Did everything just....end? Barry ran a hand through his hair and sighed. He might never know the answer to any of those questions. He wasn't sure that he could bring himself to watch when the show returned in October. Perhaps he was better off just concentrating on living here, making a life in this place, getting to know more people. Who knew how long he'd be here? He might never leave. He wished though that there was at least one person he knew from home here. At first he'd had Oliver which was good, he understood what Barry was going through, but the Seal had taken him. Barry liked Thea and was glad that she let him stay at the estate but he hadn't known her at all before he came here. He'd met other people, had made friends but it wasn't the same as having someone who know you when you weren't trapped here. He stood up and put his hands on his hips and looked back toward town. "Might as well go back," he said aloud even though there was no one to hear him. "stuff needs to be done. I'm not helping anyone out here." This hadn't solved anything, he still felt lost, he still felt alone, no amount of running would change that. Sometimes you just couldn't run fast enough. |
