It was a good thing he'd talked to Spike his first night here, or that would've soured his mood considerably. To be fair, he still wasn't really fully okay with Buffy screwing vampires with or without a soul, but it was her life and who she spent her time with was her business. Besides, what he was doing here was only a tiny bit better. At least for now.
So, lesson number one: Avoid mentioning Buffy. "Sounds an awful lot like she's someone not worth talking about," he laughed, hoping to try and direct the conversation back to less dangerous topics. He got what he wanted from this subject change, anyway. She couldn't even talk about Buffy without a huge shift in attitude. Whatever had gone down in Sunnydale between the two of them was serious. He had his work cut out for him.
Instead, he decided to try and get her talking about her own experiences. "I'm sure you've got some stories, though. Better than hers, I'll bet," he grinned, taking a quick sip of his beer. It had just a hint of invitation behind it.
