Faith was settling into an almost-routine, and she's not sure if she was fully happy about that. But Pike was putting her at ease, and she could deal with that. While she was still determined to kill Buffy, she was actually mostly okay with waiting - she told herself that it was because she wanted to do it when B least expected it, and not because Buffy had totally kicked her ass.
She wasn't afraid.
In the meantime, things had been mostly good, actually. She had a place to crash, and a hot guy to tumble. He could be just a little bit cuddly after sex, and to avoid that, she usually sat up and smoked while watching TV until he fell asleep. Then she would curl up against him for a while, before finally rolling away and going to sleep as well. He'd told her more about demons and vampires for this area, and she realized how much she'd taken for granted the scales and bumpy foreheads from Sunnydale. It was so much easier to see the evil guys back there.
They were once again at their restaurant. This had become her favorite place to come, and they had both started to get to know the owners, though Faith usually hung back from the family while Pike talked with them. As he came back over to the table and set the drinks down, she picked up one of the bottles and studied him. "Sounds like a plan." Faith knew that he didn't like her own ideas for getting money, so she was willing for him to do as he wanted right now. As long as he never questioned her seemingly never-ending supply of smokes.
This thing they had going worked well when there were no questions asked.
