It started out as a normal day for Emma. She got up, made breakfast, fed Leroy (the kitten, not the dwarf), and made her way out to do some errands. She had some grocery shopping to do, now that there were more people in the house again. Not that Emma was complaining. When almost everyone in the house had been sent home, it was nice when her parents and Leroy showed up. The house was so damn big, that it being suddenly nearly emptied out when Belle, Ariel, Ruby, and Neal all went home made Emma feel pretty lonely. Yes, she had Regina, and her other friends that she'd made while being in Lawrence, but it was nice having people from home living in the house again. Sure, peace and quiet was nice, but it was good to have other people around. And her parents were with her now. All she needed was Henry and Neal back, then she'd have her whole family with her.
Emma made her way back to the house a little bit before noon, her arms full of grocery bags. As soon as she got into the house, Leroy - the kitten - jumped at her feet, looking up at her with wide eyes, mewling for treats. Which, Emma normally brought him. She'd spoiled the kitten rotten since Regina had given him to her after Xavier's birth, so she was no longer surprised every time he jumped on her whenever she came home from running errands. Emma laughed good-naturedly, gently nudging him off of her foot, before making her way into the kitchen to put all of the food away.
Once she'd gotten the kitten set up with something to keep him out of her way while she worked, Emma started on getting everything put away, and making herself some lunch. She found herself humming to herself as she worked. Yeah...she did that a lot lately. Despite missing Henry, and all of the shit that she'd been through over the past month, seeing the spirits of Neal and Graham, not being able to see anyone from home, and losing her sight awhile back, and all of the other Seal-related crap, she actually didn't mind Lawrence all that much. She'd made some friends, gotten things right with Regina, and set up a life for herself. It wasn't Storybrooke, but she'd managed to make it home.
Emma had just finished putting everything away, and was sitting down to eat a sandwich, when things took a drastic turn. The entire house shook, and a weird feeling went through Emma's entire body. What the hell was that? A tremor. No. It couldn't be. This was Kansas for crying out loud. They had to worry about tornadoes her, not earthquakes. Right? And yet...there was something about that tremor that didn't quite feel like it was just an ordinary natural disaster. No. Her magical senses maybe weren't as finely attuned as Regina's, but Emma could definitely tell when something felt magically...off. And this did.
Another tremor, this one worse than the first. Emma heard glass break, and watched as the entire house started to fall around her. She leaped up from her spot, reaching down only to scoop up Leroy in her arms. She called out for her parents, Leroy - the dwarf - , trying to see where they were, if they were even in the house at all. She sprinted towards the kitchen door, trying to magically blast falling debris out of the way while keeping the kitten in her arms safe and secure. She looked around frantically, the feeling in the pit of her stomach that something about this was just plain wrong growing and growing into twisted knots of fear.
And then, part of the ceiling came down on her. Emma cried in pain, as she was knocked down to the floor, crushed under debris. She could feel the weight bearing down on her, crushing her. Agonizing pain shot through her entire body, and tears clouded her vision. The kitten mewled, scared, as Emma tried to comfort him, when she was terrified about what was happening to her. The life was fading from her. She could feel it.
Still, she'd try and at least get out. There might still be a chance that she could be saved, right? Shifting very carefully, Emma bit her lip, as even moving to grab her phone hurt. She struggled to try and get some help. Needless to say, it relieved her when the people that answered on the other end were her parents. Good. They could help. They could...help.
It got painful to breathe, to even try and stay awake as she talked to her parents. Fight as she did, the searing pain in her entire body was starting to overwhelm Emma, and every instinct was telling her just let go, even though she sure as hell didn't want to. She didn't want to die like this. Not alone. She was terrified, to say the least. She knew she was going to die now, she'd resolved herself to that. But that didn't mean that she wanted to. Not at all. She struggled, but eventually, Emma's body succumbed to the pain. She let out one last, heavy, labored breath, as the entire world around her went black.
