"My opponents usually are not human, but that doesn't mean I won't fight if necessary," admitted Levi when he stopped his blade a mere centimeter from the other man's neck. "Death should not be given mercilessly or uselessly." If there was anything that he had learned in his thirty some years alive, it was that. Human lives were too short and too valuable to be just tossed aside without purpose. He wasn't breathing hard, not yet. There had been far too many fights that had come closer than this one for him to be exhausted yet.
Still. He was impressed. Damien hadn't flinched or turned away once he realized the fight was lost. He had known enough to assume that Levi was in complete control of his actions, and it was true. The captain wasn't about to kill without a reason. Lowering his duel weapons and sheathing back into the devices at his hip, Levi gave the other a studious look. He wondered why Damien now was trying to get practice at a blade. Who was he? That would give him more insight about this man. Understanding who he was, what his motivations were to fight. Without those, Levi was treating him just like another opponent. Just another body to take down.
"Your error in defense was none of the above. You didn't know your opponent," he remarked sharply, lowering his hands to his side. "But, besides that." He changed his tone, softening it a bit as he spoke critically of the situation. "You seem to have a good sense of intuition, but that alone will not help you win a fight." No, indeed not. Levi was sharply reminded of Eren Yaeger, who had all the intuition and motivation to win but none of the skill. Brat was a good fighter and picked up on things fast, but he really was an amateur when it came to fighting. He'd proven that much at least over and over again.
And yet, Damien was still willing to understand. That much spoke volumes to the captain and he nodded slowly. "I'm also not used to fighting just on the ground, but I use the surroundings I have to fight. That's another part of being a skilled fighter. Mimic my stance that I was just in and I'll show you what I would have done to deflect it." It wasn't an official command, but an offer. He used the releasing devices to take out his two blades again and handed them, hilt first, over to Damien. The blades would have felt incredibly light, yet the actual metal was powerful enough to slice through skin. There were carefully placed ridges throughout the blades themselves, used to slice through anything. He had more blades that he could draw from to fight, after all. Levi would use the other blades to demonstrate how to defend against his own spinning technique that he was well-known for.
