Damien may have been going for a compliment, but Levi did not take it as such. His eyes narrowed coolly, registering the stranger in front of him just as he saw him. The blades were a symbol of hope in his world, created solely as humanity's strongest weapon against the Titans who were set on destroying them. Without those blades, Levi knew they would all be dead, just like so many of his comrades already.
"If you wish you had one of these, you don't know what they're used for," returned Levi in his mostly sarcastic but usually dark demeanor. He was blunt if anything and right to the point, not worrying about making nice with strangers. He had too many years of strangers taking advantage because he lived in the underground to care what they thought. He lived for himself, but even in the past five years, he lived for the Survey Corps as well. For freedom. It was different, now. "Anyone who holds these blades wishes they didn't have, at one point or another." Except maybe the Jaeger brat, but, that kid was another story.
Be that as it may, Damien said he was ready. Ready to fight humanity's strongest. Levi drew the second blade, wielding both of them at the same time. The green cloak hung off his back, but Levi didn't expect it to get in the way. He moved in one solid, fluid motion, like someone used to fighting all of his life. Really, Levi was. It was in the past five years that he'd joined the military, but even before Erwin had dragged him up from the underground, Levi had been fighting for his life. When the Colossus had invaded, Levi had been securely underground, and Erwin had only been a Captain at the time. How times had changed.
His right hand moved fast, almost too fast to see. The blade swung down in a perfect arc as Levi aimed to not just strike his opponent's blade, but to strike past it, to strike him directly. Human weak spots, after all, were more in quantity and easier to strike than 10 meters long at the nape of the neck. Even as he moved his right hand, his left blade moved in front to defend himself. He didn't hold back, regardless of the opponent.
