Lawrence had a lot weird things, and the worst was the whole coming and going of people. It seemed lately that most of the people that were showing up that had been here before and well it got really emotional and confusing. Cami had tried to be there for Klaus and Elijah but things were really different here. The relationships were completely different and she often felt like she wasn’t really the person they knew and they weren’t the people she knew. As strange as it was her her relationship with Marcel was good. That felt like the one thing that while had its awkward moments was good and on the level it always had been. She trusted him, he trusted here. Her better relationship with Hayley had been a good thing and having Davina back made things just feel more well normal…

However she’d lost a lot of people, not just from her world but from others that she’d become friends with, Zane had been one of them. He’d been there for her during the whole kissing insanity thing and she’d really needed someone. That wasn’t something that she was going to forget, so when he vanished it was blow to her world here. It seemed like so many of the people she’d gotten close to had vanished so quickly that she almost felt too hopeful when it became clear that Zane had actually returned.

She was working at Bed of Roses that day, and when she saw Zane walk in she just couldn’t hide the overjoyed smile that crossed her features. She’d known he was back, but seeing him was something different.

“If it’s not my very favorite knight in shining entertainment.” She teased playing to how he’d helped kept her entertained.

It was weird, being back in Lawrence. The last time he'd been there he'd only lived through part of what the world had seen him go through. He'd found out about the rest by watching the show. It was comforting knowing he wasn't a screw-up forever, that he settled down and made a life for himself and was happy. But he hadn't lived through it so he wasn't that guy last time he was here. But now he was, and he was trying to get that sorted in his head.

Back home there was GD and responsibilities and Jo, not to mention all the people he considered his second family, like Carter and Allison and Henry and Grace. None of that was here this time, and it looked like Stark Industries might not be in the cards either. But what was still here were people he cared about, like Lagertha and Cami, and he knew he'd be able to make the best of that. So for right now he was putting off worrying about his future in Lawrence to catch up with people he cared about.

He came up to the bar, a wide dimpled grin on his face. "In the flesh," he said with a laugh as he sat on a Stoll. "And I'm definitely glad circumstances are better this time."

~~

“What you mean, watching me get cursed because I’m stubborn and wouldn’t kiss you and make you take the curse was a highlight?” She teased remembering back on how insane all of that was. There were things that she believed possible and things she hadn’t. While her curse hadn’t been horrible and really only caused her to talk non stop nearly, she figured it could have been worse. A lot worse. Her knowledge of curses had always been a lot worse as was her experience with them, rather hexes, but still it was all the same.

“Usual or something new?” She asked as she tilted her head to the side a little bit waiting for his answer, once she got it she got him the correct drink.

As a curious expression crossed her face she spoke again. “So, how are you settling in again?”

~~~
"Well, yeah," he said with a laugh. "I'm just glad it wasn't really bad. Talking nonstop is one of the least horrible things that could have happened. I mean, you could have been turned into a penguin like Bobby." That had been a fun thing to see pictures of, and his smile got wider when he remembered Bobby being dressed up by the women in town.
"Usual," he said as he sat down, and after a moment Cami pushed a pint of Stone Pale Ale towards him. He picked it up and took a sip, relaxing a little more. It was good to have some alcohol after the shock of coming from Eureka back to Lawrence.
He set the glass down after a moment. "Okay, I guess," he replied. "A lot's changed since the last time I was here. I mean, there are still a lot of people I know still here, but it just feels...different. I'm not sure if I can explain it."
~~~

“Hey, I would have been able to have my life long dream and become an extra on Happy feet if I’d been turned into one.” She joked. “Happy Feet was the one about penguins right? Or maybe I could have joined those military type ones from that other animated movie, Madagascar?” She half said and half asked as she laughed at the thought. That’d have been a really amusing site to be seen. She actually would have been okay with that, maybe…

“Hey, you lived at home, and things are different here from when I even first got here. I guess when the seal took you along with a huge amount of people, things were inevitably going to change.” Cami commented as she thought about all the people that they’d lost. Her mind went quickly to Caroline and wondering how Klaus was, but they weren’t really friends here in the same way, so she pushed that away, she thought about Lexi losing her husband… The list could go on and on so she decided to stop thinking about that.

“What are you thinking of doing here?” She knew that Stark Labs might not be the same right now, but it seemed like a fair question.

~~

"I think you would have fit in well with the Madagascar penguins, but that's only because I've never seen you dance," he said. "And besides, the Madagascar penguins are fun but they're kind of dimwits. You could lead them to greatness." He tilted his head slightly. "Though I think the bossy one would fight you every step of the way, which would get annoying after a while. So I say Happy Feet would probably make you happier."

He nodded. "That could be it. I lived through everything I'd watched on TV, and I'm kind of a different person for it." He glanced down at the ring on his finger, the one Jo gave him when she proposed. It had been hard the first time around, when she was here and he was attracted to both her and Lagertha. He wasn't quite sure what to do about that situation here, because while JoJo wasn't here this time he'd lived through their relationship and he loved her. That was going to be fun to sort out.

He took a sip of his ale. "Not sure, to be honest. My house from home was gone, which means the tech I had given to Stark Industries is probably gone too. I don't even know if it's still operational, what with Stark not being here. The university has a decent science program, but I don't actually have a degree so that's a roadblock. And Claudia's gone, so I don't have access to a lab anymore, unless Myka's willing to let me come over and work on stuff."

~~~
Cami couldn’t help herself as she laughed. She had never actually considered the merits of the different sets of penguins that much. “Hey, I think the Happy Feet penguins would be willing to teach me how to dance their penguin dance. They seemed pretty friendly I think.” She said not becoming completely serious at all. It was more the pure amusement of it.
Cami nodded glancing down as he did. “So you got married.” She commented. “I guess that would make coming back here even more confusing.” She imagined the rush of emotions that would have wouldn’t be easy. Cami knew a thing or two about more emotions than other people had and more memories, but she pretty much wasn’t going to worry about her life right this moment.
“Wait, so you vanished and your house vanished too? That seems… weird, I mean does stuff that comes need someone here to hold it here? Or?” She said. “I know, who knows why the seal does what it does.” She said. “So, you have a place to stay right now right?” She added. “Zane the professor, that could be amusing.” She said in a way that showed she approved even though her words were a little playful.
~~~

"Yeah, they did seem to be pretty happy," he said. "Of course, both sets of penguins are better than the ones who were in the cartoon with the penguin and the pebble. I always felt sorry for the lead penguin."
He shook his head. "Didn't quite get that far. This is actually an engagement ring. Do you remember Jo Lupo? Back home we ended up together. She proposed when we thought the labs we worked for was going to be shut down and the town closed. The original timeline version of me proposed to her the same way the day the timelines got altered."

"I think wish stuff does, at least," he said. "For the moment I'm back at Greaves House, so I'm glad for that still being here." He had some more of his ale and grinned at that. "That would be a sight, wouldn't it?" he mused. "Maybe. I'd have to use my hacking skills and give myself some impressive degrees first. But it's an option."

~~

“I’ll stick with believing I’d end up with the Happy Feet set.” She said letting the thoughts of turning into birds drift away. Instead she focused on what Zane was telling her. “Yeah, I remember she was here pretty briefly.” Cami admitted, the thing about working in two bars run by the displaced was that she tended to at least see most everyone at one point or another. “That sounds kind of complicated, but really nice too. I’m sorry she’s not here.” Cami said, meaning it.

“Who knows, things here are kind of confusing sometimes.” Cami admitted with a small shrug. “Although I guess if no one was living in it it wouldn’t need to stay?” She said with a puzzled look. “But I’m glad you’ve got a place that’s good.” Cami herself had just gone straight to the compound, then again she was pretty sure that Marcel would have worried if she’d gone somewhere else, and Davina was there, so she wasn’t going to go anywhere else. “So, Professor, what exactly are you going to give yourself for degrees?”
