For a horrible moment, Elena thought the man had seen straight through her attempt at impersonating Rose. Katherine had always been so much better at face twin shenanigans than she was.
"I know," she replied, forcing herself to stay calm, forcing her face to stay blank and, hopefully, unreadable.
It seemed to pay off, however, since Dimitri carried on speaking to her as though she really was Rose. Elena quickly wished she'd paid a bit more attention to Lissa's post about Dimitri though, since she found that she didn't have a clue what he was talking about. Awaken her? That sounded ominous.
"It's not that simple," Elena replied slowly, looking up at the man warily from beneath her dark eyelashes. "There are people here who want to take you out. They're already planning how to do it. If I join you now, it'll only make them act faster." She paused, taking a deep steadying breath. She had no idea if this was how Rose would talk or not - she'd spent a bit of time with her face-twin but not enough to know what she'd say in a situation like this - but she'd committed now. She had to see it through.
"If I agree, I need insurance. I need to you to be smart. I need you to have a plan."
