Minerva was looking forward to starting her year as the Transfiguration Professor at Hogwarts. While she had always loved Transfiguration as a student and had been exceptionally good at it, she had never thought she would become a teacher. When Dumbledore had contacted her though she realised it was the perfect opportunity and jumped at the chance. While she did love her job as a Hit Wizard she knew it could very well be a short career either due to death or injury. Being a Professor would be a lot more rewarding in the long run. She had spent the summer holidays preparing her classes and setting up her rooms at Hogwarts. Now, she had hours until the students arrived for the beginning of year feast. It was hard to believe it was already hear.
Dressed in her McGonagall tartan robes, she planned to go through the lesson plans one last time before attending the staff meeting that was to take place in a few hours. She would be lying if she said she wasn't nervous about it all. The fact that a trained eye could see her shaking probably would have given it away too. What was worse, was that she was that her palms were all cold and sweaty. Wiping them on her robes, she took a deep breath to calm herself. It wouldn't do to be nervous, not now and opened the door to her rooms.
Except when she stepped through it wasn't her rooms that she entered but a graveyard. Pulling her wand out quickly, she spun around trying to gage where she was. She didn't recognise any of the locations. She could also feel the hair on the back of her neck standing up and she couldn't help but shiver at the situation. "Lumos," she whispered just in case there was anyone around. A part of her mind, the calmer part pointed out that no matter where she was she didn't want to get in trouble for using magic around Muggles. She was right, it was a graveyard but not one she had seen before. Crouching, she used her wand to light up some of the graves to see if she could recognise the names, but that didn't help.
Closing her eyes, she took another breath before trying to apparate to Hogsmeade. Not feeling the sensation of apparition she opened her eyes quickly to discover she was still in the same place. That didn't bode well and she could feel a sense of panic settling in the bottom of her stomach. If she was too far away to apparate to Hogsmeade... Well she didn't want to think about what that meant.
Hearing foot stetps, she spun around to face the direction that they were coming from. Keeping her wand still out she whispered nox and held it in a way though that it wasn't obvious just in case it was a Muggle. They were still far enough away that she quickly used the chance to transfigure her clothes into Muggle ones, something she was familiar enough with thankfully that she wouldn't stand out. If the person was dangerous she didn't want to attract their attention.
