Ward wasn't ready for this. Honestly he wasn't even close. But as it turned out Skye was good at pep talks. And he'd agreed to this for her, as he assumed Coulson had done too. Ideally things would have just continued on, neither of them having to deal with the other but when it came down to it there was someone of mutual importance in their lives. And so he'd agreed to this meeting. He'd been nearby for a while, looking out for any sign of Morse. Any sign that this wasn't what he'd arranged but it seemed Coulson had followed through on this promise. And Ward had kept to his side. No weapons, bar, well, Coulson had been right, they really could do each other enough damage without.
He stepped out into the open, walking toward the bench he'd mentioned, public, lots of kids playing around, families, happy. He wondered how many were shams like his had been.
"Coulson" he said simply, not really sure where to start. He'd arranged all this but what came next was up to the other man and so he waited, posture entirely guarded. "Wasn't sure you'd show."
