Davina jumped, looking around her at the sound of a shout. The hairs on the back of her neck were standing on end, every nerve in her body tingling, as she readied herself to act, to defend herself.
"Who's there?" she called, ashamed to hear that her voice sounded shaky - far from the strong, confident tone she had been aiming for. As much as she hated to admit it, she had been caught off guard. She had trusted Kol. She had actually trusted him. And now he'd done this - whatever this was. All she knew was that, the moment she'd started to kiss him back, the moment she'd let down her guard, she'd found herself here, completely vulnerable, completely alone.
Well, apart from whoever it was that had shouted, that was, although that knowledge wasn't a comfort to her.
