"He does," Elena assured her, the smile still playing across her lips. Damon made her angry and frustrated and confused and determined and confident and happy, really, really happy.
"We're going to do it properly, some day," Elena said, looking at her ring again and twisting it a little with her thumb. "The wedding, I mean." Damon had been saying it since California, that they should renew their vows properly, in Lawrence, with the people they cared about. Elena wanted to as well. She just wanted to wait for the right time, that was all. The seal had thrown problem after problem at them since their wedding and it had never seemed like the right time to plan a wedding but she knew they'd get around to it eventually. For now, though, knowing that they were married was enough for her.
Elena let go of Jenna and leaned back against the sofa cushion again as her aunt took the subject-change bait. "Well, it's good that you're going to talk," she said earnestly. Ric had changed a lot since Jenna's death but he was still Ric. Even if things between them never went back to the way they were, talking was good. They were all stuck here together, after all.
"Just... don't feel you have to force it," she said quietly, reaching out to pick up her phone again. She was worried that Jenna would feel she had to try to pick up where she'd left off, the way Elena had tried to do with Stefan, and ignore any signs which suggested it wasn't right, for either of them. "I know he's changed but so have you and that's alright." Elena gave her aunt a warm smile, trying to make sure she knew she wasn't alone in all this.
"Besides," she added with a cheeky grin, swiping open her phone and returning to the take out order screen. "You're a kick ass, sexy vampire now. You could have any guy here if you wanted."
