She didn't bother replying to his thanks because she was satisfied that he seemed back to normal. He wasn't about to Change while driving her around, so they were both a helluva lot safer now. Her eyes were focused on the bumper of the car in front of them, carefully not looking at him as he refused to answer her question right away. Adam's reasoning sounded right, and but she caught the faint whiff of uneasiness, particularly when he said it wasn't all good.

Dammit - the vampires did find out and kill her.

After quelling her own sudden rush of paralyzing fear, she blinked a few times as his words sank in and, dammit, the answer was on the tip of her tongue almost before he got the words out. Finally, she glanced over at him. "I never waited for you to ask for cookies," she pointed out, but mainly because baking was busy work for her. She was always sending them over randomly. Pulling her gaze away from him because he really was too beautiful to look at right now, she again stared at the car in front of them.

"I'll think about it." There was so much she wanted to know, first - after all, if he'd already declared her his mate...was there some weird political thing about it all that meant she was accepting if she became pack? And just why was she longing to say yes? That, at least, she chalked up to his Alpha presence and the fact that she hated seeing him suffer.
