After talking to Adam on the network she'd been directed to, she sat back and stared at the computer screen for a long time. A year and a half, he'd been without his pack. A lesser Alpha wouldn't have lasted this long, she didn't think - that Adam had was a testament to his strength....not that she needed the reminder. Mercy finally signed out of her session, then stood and made her way to the exit to wait outside. After moving away from the entrance, she leaned back against the wall and crossed her arms across her chest. A few seconds later, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, taking in the scents of the city, separating and cataloging them in her mind, then working on sounds.
She knew when he pulled up. His Alpha power washed over her a few seconds before whatever car he was driving arrived, but she didn't close her eyes. She'd be damned if she was going to show weakness or submissiveness to him right now, especially when she knew his control was probably hanging on by a hair. But if she annoyed him right, well, things would go back to the way they should. She hoped.
It wasn't until he had stopped in front of her and spoke that she opened her eyes slowly. Rather than focus on his, her own latched onto the amulet and she blinked in surprise, then lifted it to take the cord, frowning a little. "...That really works here?" Because nothing that she'd heard about demons could be stopped by an amulet or anything - her lamb hadn't done anything at all against the sorcerer.
