Faith had called it patrolling, but she really just needed an excuse to get out here and wander. Yeah, there were demons and other shit here, but mostly she just wanted to get out of the house. Going on patrol seemed like a good excuse and it was probably a good idea. She hadn't gotten to know many people here, she trusted even fewer and two people had been attacked in the last week. The gunshot wasn't necessarily a creepy crawlie, but if there was something or someone out there.... She might not officially be a Slayer here, but she still felt like it was her job to protect these people.
And mainly, she was jonesing for the fight. She was doing pretty good at that whole not hurting innocents thing, so it would be really great if someone a little more on the evil side happened along. There shouldn't be a real shortage of that here in Lawrence, so she was kind of hoping it was her lucky night.
Plan B was giving Sam a shout and seeing if he was up for sparring. She wasn't sure she and Buffy going at it would be the best idea, considering their history. They were getting along now, but there was probably always going to be some part of them that wants to be at odds. She wasn't sure she trusted herself to fight the other Slayer. Or Buffy, for that matter. Whatever peace they'd made, it was fragile. Maybe not exactly up to them trying to kick each other's faces in. Again.
A sound not far away broke Faith's reverie and she moved toward it, stake in hand, to investigate. Knowing her luck, it was probably just a cat or something, but she was really hoping it was something a little more interesting. Vampire, demon, she really wasn't that picky as long as it happened to be something she could pound on a little.
