Elena wasn't completely sure what it was about Katniss which had tugged at her heartstrings. She wasn't usually one to jump on the welcome wagon, especially not since Damon had been taken - she figured the new arrivals could do without her particular brand of doom and gloom. But Katniss seemed to be going through some things and Elena could definitely relate to that. She'd heard of the movies and books, of course, but she had been kind of removed from popular culture lately so she'd missed out on what they were actually about, except for the fact that there was some sort of games where people had to fight for... something. Either way, whatever Katniss had dealt with at home, she knew it was important to have friends around you here. She hoped she'd be able to help with that, at least.

Pulling up outside the apartments Katniss had said she was staying at, Elena climbed out of the car and grabbed the grocery bag from the passenger seat. She'd bought a couple of tubs of ice cream and a crate of beer. She had no idea if Katniss even drank, but she figured she'd take the risk. She could always save them for another day if they weren't needed.

Once inside the apartment building, Elena searched the corridors until she found the right door. Despite having lived here in Lawrence for over six months, she'd never actually been inside the Sanctuary apartment complex. She was lucky, she guessed, that she'd had somewhere to call home as soon as she'd arrived, with Damon to make her feel safe and secure and... she wasn't going to think about Damon right now. She'd be no good to Katniss if she turned up is a mess herself. Taking a deep breath, she raised a hand and knocked on the apartment door.
