Ward didn't expect her that evening. She'd never come to visit him. Why would she? But she'd definitely gotten to him. Making him think about the fact that maybe he missed Stark being around. That maybe the man had become a friend to him and maybe missing him wasn't a weakness in the way he'd been thought it was. Maybe his feelings for Skye didn't have to be that either and maybe it was okay to let that in. He'd started to really care about her, training her back on the bus. Watching her fight back against death itself, watching her grow into someone that truly deserved to be an agent. And all the while knowing he'd hurt her some day but wishing above all else that he didn't have to.
He'd poured himself a beer and sat, just trying to figure out what exactly had happened during the whole mess that was today. It was all kinds of a mess but he'd done what he had to, helped out Hardy by getting her friends involved and realised he'd been more right about Romanoff than he'd though. Maybe she could take him in a fight but she really wasn't as bright as people assumed. And a raging bitch too boot. But he'd play her game, if only to piss her off.
The knock to the door took him by suprise. Damon maybe, Cap, Caroline even? Opening it, he didn't expect Skye. Of all people. But seeing her there, at his door, coming to see him?
"Are you...is something wrong?" he asked hesitantly, wondering what this was, why she'd come to see him and why she'd do it alone.
