Part of her desperately didn’t want to think about these things. That part wanted to go back to putting her head in the sand and believing that she could live off of blood bags forever and ever. And usually that was true. Most days all she needed was to use those to feed and she’d be good to go. But Klaus was right and Caroline knew it. Considering what Lawrence could be like and the insanity that could ensue at a moment’s notice it would be a good idea to have various regulars around the city.
She glanced over at the woman who was enjoying the music, not an inkling wiser to the fact that she was being watched by two predators. It was still difficult for Caroline to think of herself that way at times, other times it was a lot easier to swallow, sometimes she even embraced it. This was one of those times where she wasn’t quite sure if she was ready to take that next step but knew that not taking it would only delay the inevitable.
She was safe with Klaus and that meant the woman they wanted to feed from and compel would be safe as well. He wouldn’t let her go overboard in her feeding--something she still worried about even with her stellar control--and he also wouldn’t kill the woman. So it was kind of win-win or at least not quite a loss for the woman. She wouldn’t even remember the whole ordeal once it was over.
“Okay. Go do your thing and we’ll have ourselves a regular.” He’d had more experience with compulsion so she was letting him lead with this one, wanted to see how he did it, and maybe she’d do the next one when they eventually chose another.
