They had been here before, more than once actually. Klaus teaching her, Caroline learning, bit by bit, better every time. It took time to get used to the kind of life it seemed she wanted and it took him longer still to ensure she truly did want it.
Caroline watched the woman making some observations. But she didn't quite get it.
"She loves this place, the music, the life. We take her rather than the other because she'll be back. Because if we like her, if we get her to go along with it, make her think its a game and compell the bite away then we have someone conveniant to go back to if ever we need it. She associates coming here with good things already, why change that for her. We don't always have to go for the fear tactics. We don't always have to live up to how certain people view us. Even me."
It was a valuable lesson to learn, especially given his reputation. He could be kind just as easily as he could be cruel and he had no wish to hurt this woman, she'd done nothing to him to deserve it.
