WHO: Elena and Damon
WHEN: Monday morning(ish)
WHERE: The Bellagio Hotel
WHAT: Waking up in Vegas!
RATING: TBC
STATUS: In progress
Elena groaned as she rolled over. The hotel room had thick, heavy blackout blinds... which made absolutely no difference, since someone had forgotten to shut them. The desert sun streamed in through the wall of glass, disturbing Elena as she tried hard to stay asleep. Her head felt fuzzy and she was laying on something which dug painfully into her ribs. With a huff, she pushed an arm beneath her and grabbed whatever it was to pull it free. She opened one eye, just a crack, to inspect the thing. It was an empty bourbon bottle. Elena groaned again and threw the bottle across the room, burying her head face in the crisp, white Bellagio pillow.
She was vaguely aware of Damon's presence next to her on the bed - at least, she hope it was Damon... Turning her head, she opened the same solitary eye to cast her bleary gaze over her boyfriend. He was lying, naked and glorious, face up on the wide, king-sized bed, his black hair framing his head in a dishevelled halo against the white of the bedclothes. A little smile twitched Elena's lips. She was lucky. She realised that and tried to remind herself of it every single day, just so she never grew too complacent.
With a sigh, she let her left arm flop out and across Damon's torso, her fingers tracing the curve of his chest. The sunlight sparkled off of the silver of her daylight ring as her hand moved over his muscle-rippled skin and Elena contentedly closed her eyes again, just enjoying the feeling of togetherness.
But she wore her daylight ring on her right hand. Fourth finger of her right hand. She always had, ever since becoming a vampire. She never wore it on her left hand. Especially not on the fourth finger of her left hand.
Elena's eyes flew wide open and she moved to sit bolt upright in bed, the white, hotel sheet pooling at her waist as she lifted her left hand to gaze down at her ring finger. A sinking feeling rose in her stomach as scenes from the night before started returning to her. Feeling more than a little shaken, Elena put out her hand, her eyes never leaving the sparkling piece of jewellery on her finger, to shake Damon.
"Wake up," she hissed, a look of shock and horror fixed on her face. "Damon, wake up!"
