Elena allowed Damon to pull her closer, leaning her cheek against his cool chest, her hand resting next to it as she continued to study the ring on her finger. The sound of Damon's words were reassuring - she thought she might not have been able to stop herself feeling a little hurt if he did regret it - but it didn't change the fact that they had done something so crazy it defied logic.
"You know I want that too," Elena said, lifting her chin so she could peer up at her boyfriend... or husband now, she guessed. Her stomach flip flopped at the thought. This was insane.
"Damon," Elena began, lifting her hands so she could cup his face between her palms. "I love you, but please tell me that you appreciate how completely and utterly crazy this is. We can't be married! I'm only 20 years old, for god's sake!" She paused, a stricken look crossing her face. "Oh my god... we're Twilight. We're actually freaking Twilight!" She was silent for just a moment before, slowly, her lips twitched as a giggle grew in her throat, gradually turning into a full on laugh as she leaned forward to bury her face against Damon's chest.
"This is so not funny," she said, her voice muffled by his skin and the matted mess of her hair, which fell down around her face in unruly waves.
