Who: Klaus and Hayley and bb!Hope
Where: The Arrivals Graveyard
When: Not long after Hayley's post
What: Mostly confusion about the magical miracle baby
Rating: Low ish. Probably he rants a lot
Status: In progress.

Yesterday he'd been planning to design a home, the new house he'd bought with Caroline. A perfectly normal situation And then the litle wolf had shown up, Marcel had let something slip that he'd kept from him, something Klaus had to admit he wouldn't have believed if the proof hadn't been in the city itself. Apparently he'd had a child. A baby girl with the crescent wolf girl Hayley. As he'd told her of course he didn't remember sleeping with her which implied it had happened after he'd come here, something she had lived and he had not. And he truly did want to believe she was lying, but her, and Marcel both? It didn't seem possible that this was something they'd concocted between them in the few minutes since she'd gotten here.

He'd been short with Caroline which he hadn't meant to be at all, but it was all more complicated than he'd anticipated. He'd have to tell her something. The truth of course, once he figured out what that was. He couldn't imagine a child of his. Something he'd helped create and bring into the world. He actually found himself wondering on the way to the graveyard why the witches wanted her dead. He at least hoped she was the doom of their kind or something. He'd really be quite proud of that.

Stepping through the gates he remembered why people generally didn't come here willingly, the memories of that day, that fight against the devil, his sister falling in to hell, all of it. But of course adversity made one stronger, so he unlike most of them, was not scared to return to the place. He spotted Hayley right away, her and the baby she carried in her arms.

"Hello little wolf" he said simply, appearing close to her side and glancing down at the baby she held. "I'd suggest we talk elsewhere since..." he broke off the statement as the little girl stirred in her mother's arms and met his gaze.

There truly was something about the child, something he recognised. All bravado gone, he leaned against a crypt momentatrily.

"Can I hold her?"

Hayley was having a really shitty day. She'd been hexed and she'd been kidnapped. She'd been through labor while restrained and she'd only held her little girl for a moment before having her throat cut.

Waking up after that had been kind of a shock. It took only moments to figure out what had happened and in the same breath she realized she could feel exactly where her baby was. She didn't know how that was possible and she didn't question it. The only important thing was getting to her child.

It the hours that followed, Hayley had to make the heartbreaking decision to let Hope go. The witches had been stopped, but she knew - she knew - that Esther wouldn't stop. She would keep on and keep on until Hope was dead. Hayley couldn't let that happen. She wouldn't. Sending her daughter away was the only option. Rebekah would keep her safe while they convinced everyone else the baby really had died.

Before she could hand Klaus his daughter one last time, the world around Hayley changed. She was no longer sitting in the room with Klaus and Elijah. Instead, she found herself standing in a graveyard, her baby girl still in her arms.

Hayley refused to admit, even to herself, how much it hurt that most of the people she was closest to didn't even know who she was. She understood well enough that they'd been brought here from earlier times, but it still sucked major amounts of ass that Elijah and Rebekah didn't know her, that Klaus didn't know his own daughter, that Marcel seemed to be the only one who knew any of what she'd just been through and that everyone seemed to think she and Tyler were still friends. As if.

She smiled when she saw Klaus, in spite of herself. Hayley still thought he was a major asshole, but he was a major asshole who'd just had the crap kicked out of him in trying to protect her and their baby, he was the father of her child, and even if she'd never admit it, he'd almost become a friend. He didn't remember any of that, but a part of her still couldn't help being glad to see him. Hayley didn't want or need anything from him, but she didn't want her baby to grow up without her daddy if she could help it.

Getting out of this graveyard was a good idea and she was about to say so before his question, but then she simply nodded her head, her smile softening a little.

"Of course you can," she said, not even hesitating for an instant before she laid Hope carefully in her father's arms.

As the infant was placed in his arms Klaus froze in place unable to move for an irrational fear of hurting her, which was ridiculous. He'd held Rebekah and Henrik. But that had been a long time ago. A thousand years, since he'd been changed, babies hadn't really been something he'd thought about. Unless obviously they were Petrova daughters. He hadn't looked away from Hope for but a moment since she'd been here and he didn't quite know if he could again. She was his. He knew that by an instinct he had been unaware he possessed up until this point. She was truly beautiful.

"I'm sorry I don't remember" he said with a softness to his voice that not many would ever have heard before. "But I can't deny her."

He wasn't sure what this meant other than he'd do what he had to so she was safe here. He'd explain it to Caroline. He'd be honest but very clear that he would need to protect Hope whatever it took. He hoped, he believed, that she'd stand by him. And Hayley, there was nothing there beyond this shared miracle. He hadn't been suprised he'd taken her to his bed but it would have been little more than a one night stand if anything. Still, she was the mother of his child, and while he knew in her altered state she could take care of herself. He would do what he could for her too.

"We'll need to find you somewhere safe. I'd suggest my home but things are very different here. I'm involved with Caroline Forbes. You know well how I feel for her, and she has returned that affection. So until she has the full story, until we've spoken I can't offer that. Would you be willing to stay with Marcel, and Davina." he asked her curious as to just how deep her hatred of the witches ran. He didn't trust the witch, but he did believe Marcel would keep them both safe until he could speak to Caroline. Until something could be worked out. He could buy them somewhere to stay, or fix it for them to get one of the apartments. And amulets, or whatever the equivilent was for children.

"And then Hayley, I'd like you to tell me what happened, how the witches came to attack you, how Marcel saved her. I need to know all of it."

Hayley let out the breath she hadn't realized she was holding. She knew first hand how bad his temper could be, but more than that she didn't want to do this alone. Hayley was touch. She could take care of herself. But she didn't know the first thing about a baby, for one, and for two she'd grown used to being able to count on Klaus, and on Elijah. Rebekah, too, but Klaus had run her off.

"It wasn't really that memorable," she teased with more levity than she felt. It wasn't like they'd had some great love affair, though. It had been one night and no one could have predicted the result, but Hayley had no regrets. She loved her daughter more than anything, more than her own life.

She considered the idea of staying with Marcel and Davina. Hayley wasn't crazy about witches and with good reason, but Davina hadn't been among those who kidnapped her and Marcel have saved Hope from the witches.

"All right, I'll stay with them," she agreed after a moment. She wasn't sure she trusted Davina, either, but right now she felt like Marcel was one of the few she could trust. For now, anyway, it would do.

"It's a long story," she warned him, "but I'll gladly tell it after you get me out of this graveyard. I might be a creature of the night and all, but this place is a little creepy."

It probably was more a drunken roll in the hay than anything else but what it had produced made it entirely worth it. Despite only having learned of her existance, Klaus could hardly take his eyes off the child. She was his, he'd helped create her. And she was perfect. Oh he expected if Hayley had come here pregnant he wouldn't have reacted quite so well, but seeing Hope. It really did change things.

Hayley agreed to stay with Marcel and that was enough to start Klaus moving toward the gate of the graveyard and a ways to where he'd parked his car. Of course he had nothing like they needed to house a baby.

"I'm afraid I just rushed out here. We'll need things for her I expect but until then I can call someone more equipped for this to bring you to Marcel's. And you can tell me all about these wiches. I know a little, The Deveraux sisters conspried against me, Davina was more powerful than she should have been because of some saccrifice ritual, beyond that I know very little about what happened in New Orleans"
