Tom was bursting full of energy, as he usually was the day before the full moon. Everything was a bit heightened in anticipation for the change. His senses even more acute than they usually were. It had always made his work day more interesting, the day before the full moon. His usually calm demeanor was a lot easier to fluster. He was likely to actually lose his temper, which he very rarely did usually. Well, unless Hal was being expecially irritating that day. Sometimes he was a right dickhead.
But, he'd spent the day trying to ignore the wonderful scent of Jesse as they worked side by side. Because she really did smell wonderful, like flowers and rainbows. And it was distracting. And, he didn't know what to do with it. He was never very good at it. When girls made him feel feelings.
He was relieved when his shift was finally over, and decided to burn off some of his excess energy by running home instead of getting the bus. It felt good to stretch his muscles, and he quickly fell into an easy lope. Well, easy for him. Other people would have found it hard to keep up with him, for the distance he was running. But, he approached the house far sooner than he'd have liked, and after glancing at his watch to double check the time. He knew that it was still early enough that he could run around the block a couple of times before having time to get changed before Adam came and collected him.
When he finally approached the house, he smelt the unmistakeable smell of werewolf. Female werewolf. In fact, a scent he recognised. Hal's friend Catherine. Tom wasn't really comfortable with the type of relationship Hal and Catherine had. Mostly because he didn't understand it. But, apparently the violent relationship the vampire and werewolf had had in their past, had boiled into something a bit different now that she had reentered Hal's life. And, well Hal seemed fairly happy with the arrangement. He thought.
He supposed that Catherine made Hal feel feelings like Natasha had made him feel feelings. Rather than the way that Allison and Jesse made Tom feel feelings. And, he thought he might actually like Jesse more than he liked Allison. She was pretty and fun, and had more in common with him than Allison did in some ways. And, she was really sweet and he liked that.
Tom paused briefly before opening the door. Wanting to try and work out where his best mate was in the house, but not wanting to hear that again. It was bad enough that the seal had put him in the living room when Hal and Catherine were busy. He didn't need the reminder again. He really hoped that they either weren't doing that. Or were actually in Hal's room.
Steeling himself, he opened the door, quickly closing it behind him. He knew that both the vampire and the werewolf would be able to hear him. Providing they weren't too busy. God, he hoped they weren't too busy as he tried very hard not to hear anything.
