Who - Jemma Simmons and Grant Ward What - Simmons telling Ward that Skye's gone Where - A cafe with good tea When - Friday afternoon Warnings - TBD Status - Ongoing
Jemma sat in the cafe nursing her cup of tea. It wasn't the best tea, by any means. That was hard to get in the US. She debated asking Stark if he could order her some decent stuff from England. Or seeing if the TARDIS residents would do a tea run for her. Possibly for some Cadbury's as well. She missed decent chocolate. She missed the care packages that her parents used to send her from home. Not as much as she missed her parents, admittedly. Or Fitz.
Fitz. She hadn't been away from him this long for years. It was weird working in the lab on her own. Meant she appreciated when Darcy came over to do "fake science" as she did real science. Or when she got together with Connor. But, it still wasn't the same. And, it was worse now that Skye wasn't around anymore. The only person she knew from home now, was Ward. And, she still had confused feelings about him.
She hadn't lived through what he'd done yet. Even though he had. But, because she hadn't lived through him pushing that button, and ejecting her and Fitz from the plane, it made everything confusing. She knew he wasn't the man she knew. But, she also knew that in his own twisted sort of way, he seemed to care about them. Which apparently was why he pushed them out of a plane, instead of shooting them. But, he still considered them a weakness. An attitude she found it hard to understand. Because she could never see caring as a weakness. It was a strength.
But, she knew she had to be the one to tell him about Skye. That she was probably the only one he wouldn't lash out at. Not without orders, anyway. She fidgetted, and glanced out the window, wondering where Romanoff had hidden herself. She'd never been very good at this sort of thing. At least she wasn't trying to improvise of pretend anything this time.
