Jesse Hauptman & the Angels [OTA, someone tag in please! :D ]; Jesse got separated from the group, and an Angel decided to jump into her brain when she stared in it's eyes too long! Saturday, August 30, 2014; Weeping Angel House PG-13 (traumatized 16 year old, creepy Weeping Angels); Conplete
Jesse hadn't meant to split off from the group the way she had. Her intention was going to the bathroom and back to the kitchen where they'd set up a mainstay of sorts. If you got lost, find the kitchen and you'd be found by someone. That was the agreement, that was what they'd done for a week now. But dammit, if she didn't end up lost. She swore the house was a maze. Or maybe it was just the angels that made it hard to keep up with which direction she was supposed to go. Whatever it was, it had basically ensured that she ended up lost.
The whole house freaked Jesse out. She'd never particularly favored angel statues and after JemmA's explanations about what these particular angels could do, well, she's probably just smash any damn statue she ever saw that looked like it might do something funny for the rest of her life. They were creepy and the rules about never taking your eyes off of them that extended so far as to say don't blink, just made them even creepier. She had done pretty good so far, though. A week and something was gone and she had been incident free. Probably because she'd stuck with either Natasha, Stiles or Damon most of the time. Or anyone that didn't mind a 16 year old shadow really, but those three were the ones she knew best in some capacity. She'd hung around Becker for awhile, too. But now, stupidly, she was alone. And that probably meant she was completely screwed and about to die. Or be sent back in time. Or...whatever the hell these stupid statues decided was a good plan for her. Right now, she just hoped she could find someone, anyone, and then get back to the group.
Jesse kept spinning around, thinking she saw something moving in the corner of her eye. Every time, she hoped it was one of her friends and not one of the angels, but ultimately it was never anything. She was just paranoid and scared and her imagination was clearly overamped. Everything was fine. She was fine Nothing was going to--
The lights flickered and she spun to look to her left, then her right. In the time that she had been trying to see what was around her, one of the angels had moved and now stood right in front of her. Jesse was frozen, eyes wide, trying her hardest to keep her eyes on it. "Don't blink, don't blink," she muttered to herself, stepping back, her eyes locked with the angel's own as she slowly circled the angel, walking backwards now down the hallway she had been traveling down. She was slow and a little awkward because she wasn't familiar with the house, but eventually she stumbled into a wall and realized it was just steps away. She stepped back around the corner and as soon as the angel was out of sight, she took off running as fast as she could down the hall.
*****
Jesse wasn't really sure what was going on with her. Ever since the one-on-one encounter with the angel in the hallway earlier, she just felt...off. She couldn't quite explain it, but she didn't like it. She was definitely shaken by being right in the face of one of those things. Just thinking about it made her skin scrawl. They were very, very different to the Wild Things back home, even those in Lawrence, and there was just something about the statues that unsettled her. Maybe it was everything Jemma had told them. Maybe it was just that they were creepy as all hell. She would have to remember to tell her dad that angel statues were off limits in their house anymore.
She didn't know how far away from the group her little running stint had gotten her. She should have taken Natasha or someone with her when she'd left, dammit. Well, she would damn sure not be getting separated from anyone for the rest of this impromptu Seal-delivered trip of theirs. She hated it. If she slept, it was terribly and full of nightmares. And when she was awake, it was just a living nightmare all its own. Everything about this place was just...creepy and unsettling and she just wanted to leave.
She had been without incident for awhile now and she thought she could hear voices, or at the very least one voice, so she must have been getting closer to the group. Or someone else who'd ended up lost. Either way, finding someone else was a good thing. "Hey! Who's there?" she called out, creeping around another corner, casting a quick glance behind her just to be sure she wasn't being followed by one of those creepy statues, more thankful than she should have been to not find another one in her face when she turned back to her search for the owner of the voice.
