Who: Caroline Forbes What: waking up in a morgue in Sunnydale is never a good idea When: today! Where: Sunnydale Warnings: character death
Coming back from death wasn’t exactly a new experience for Caroline. She’d done it back in Mystic Falls a few times, in Lawrence the one time, but this time was definitely different than all of the rest. For one she was in a tightly enclosed space, it was too dark to see, and she was naked with a sheet draped over her body. She was also starving, but not for blood, which meant she wasn’t a vampire again and probably wasn’t in Lawrence...but at least she was alive right? That had to mean that eventually whatever the Seal was doing would send them all home to Lawrence and hopefully the weird being human again part would end when she returned.
And maybe death wasn’t permanent.
That would be a good thing.
Not that it really stopped it being traumatic every single time it happened. Of course all of her theories could be wrong and everyone else could already have been sent home, her death meaning she had to stay behind in Sunnyhell but Caroline was choosing to be optimistic. Or, well, as optimistic as she could be in an enclosed drawer. Naked. And freezing.
There was only one place where she could think of being where it would be cold and she’d be naked after death and that was the morgue. At least she hadn’t been buried but she was pretty sure it was getting harder to breathe and the panic began to set in at that.
Screaming for help, to be let out probably wasn’t the best way to conserve air, but it was the surest way for someone to hear her and at least pull open the drawer so she could get out of the drawer and find clothes and the others and regroup. Anything had to be better than staying inside the morgue drawers.
The drawer was pulled open and Caroline tried to calm her nerves, to not look as freaked as she was feeling, hopeful she could explain to whoever was in charge of the place that she was okay, wishing she had her compulsion.
“I told you it was a good idea to station two of us down here just in case the vamps woke up here again,” someone said and before Caroline could even see who it was or get a word out a stake was driven into her heart.
She didn’t turn into dust though like they were expecting but she was dead all the same and nothing either of them did was going to help save her as she choked to death on her own blood, not even having time to think of anyone this time as she died.
