It was ridiculous, but Rebekah was actually nervous at the idea of her little brother coming over to visit. It had hurt, so much, when he had left them. As much as she was no longer living in the same house, the house she had chosen for herself and Stefan was mere minutes away, just the other side of the fields where the horses grazed. Now, she supposed, it was Elijah's house. With Katherine. Ew.
But, Henrik was coming over and that meant she was not going to screw this up. The house was tidied, any hint of laziness gone. While she had spent much of the past few days at Crowley's, with Kol, she had come home a few times while Stefan had been away, and the tale-tale signs were dotted around, at least until she had thoroughly cleaned up.
And then there was cleaning herself up. Fresh clothes and meticulously applied make-up, carefully covering the paleness of her skin, the dark shadows under her eyes. Until finally she looked at herself in the mirror and saw a Rebekah who looked somewhat normal, even bordering on healthy. Because the last thing she wanted was for Henrik to worry. He was supposed to have the chance to have fun.
"I guess that means rock climbing is out," she quipped with a smirk as she opened the door to him. Really, she had been planning on keeping a very close eye on him, on if he was tired, or pushing himself too hard, even if he did the typical boy thing of pretending everything was fine.
When he hugged her, she hugged him back tightly, careful not to hurt him with her vampire strength, but still clinging onto him. Because she had missed him too, so much. And when she did finally let go, she still kept one arm around his shoulders as she reached for the keyring ready by the table. "And this is for you." She held it out to him, the keyring engraved with his name. "Front door, back door." She gestured to the appropriate keys as she spoke. "And you can pick your room whenever you like."
