Who: Robin and Marian (and Edward!)
What: Being adorable new parents
When: Early Monday morning
Where: Locksley Manor
There would always be a part of Marian who feared this life was only a dream. Everything was too good. Oh, not perfect. Never perfect. But so very good. For someone who, by rights, shouldn't have even been alive, she was more happy than she could say. Her husband was incredible, her friends were the kindest she could ask for, and now... Oh, now she had this perfect angel.
Yes, he cried. He needed changing and she'd barely slept more than two hours at a time since having him. But Marian knew she wouldn't change it for the world.
It was one of those cries that sent her into the nursery that morning. Gently, she picked her son up into her arms and started singing to him softly to lull his cries while she prepared to change him. This? For all its mundane tasks, this was her favorite part of the day. Those quiet moments first thing in the morning with little Edward. Changing him and feeding him and occasionally then changing him again. But it was all worth it.
He finished his breakfast and she eased him to her shoulder to lightly rub his back and urge a burp from him. Settling into the rocker, she started humming, some song she knew Robin hated but it did have a nice melody and might just work to calm her tiny son.
Son. She never got tired of saying that word. They had a son. And he was perfect.
