Damon was sat on the bonnet of his blue camero, waiting for Elena to finish packing for their trip. He knew Klaus was mad at him for letting her tag along. But, he said he wouldn't attack her, and the hybrid usually stuck to his word. Admittedly, usually his word was, I'm going to kill you but even though Damon didn't like him, he knew he could trust him to stick to this. Although, separate cars seemed like the best way to stick to the Original's terms.
He hadn't been able to deny Elena anything since she got here. He still felt guilty that he'd been able to believe that she'd really broken up with him. That he'd believed it so strongly that he'd gone off the rails, killed her friend, been with Rose. Although, he had tried to persuade her not to come. His heart hadn't really been in it. He didn't want to leave her side for more than a moment. Didn't think he could sleep if she wasn't in the bed beside him.
He heard the door of the house open and close. And he turned to look at his girlfriend, pure, unadulterated adoration showing on his face. He pushed away from the car, and took her bag out of her hand, throwing it into the back seat, before pulling her into his arms. She felt so small and fragile. But, she wasn't. His Elena was stronger than she looked, and he loved her more than anything. His lips met hers, softly. "Ready?"
