Elena laughed quietly, yet genuinely, leaning out of the way so the waitress could place their drinks down on the table. "Yes we do," she agreed before finishing the rest of her drink and handing the empty cup back to the waitress so she could start on her fresh one.
"I know what you mean," Elena said, trying to sound as understanding as she could. Honestly, it must be equally weird for either of them to be in that house. It was lovely that Rose had left in order that she could say (although Elena couldn't help but feel that it was maybe a little self-deprecating too) but the house held no emotional connection for her. In her mind, it was just the place where Damon had spent his time screwing another woman, and that wasn't a comforting thought at all.
"So, how's things?" Elena said, slightly hesitantly. She didn't want to ask directly how Rose had been since Damon had left her but she was hoping the older vampire would know what she meant without her having to go into it explicitly.
