Elena turned and looked up at the waitress when she appeared behind her right shoulder, as much to hide a grimace at Rose's words as because she wanted something. She ordered another latte, nonetheless, glad of the distraction for the moment it lasted.
"It's a lot to get used to," Elena replied with a sigh and a small lift of her shoulders. "Coffee is good, though. Coffee is normalcy and normal is good right now." She paused, playing absentmindedly with the handle of her cup. "Although, I'm not entirely sure how normal two dead girls having coffee actually is." Elena's eyes lifted to find Rose's gaze before her expression split into a small, apologetic yet amused smile.
"Yeah, about the house," Elena said after the moment had past, the awkwardness returning to her features. "It's lovely and, of course, I'm grateful, I just..." She stopped, trying to think of the right words. "It feels like I'm lying in your grave and I hate it." She blurted the last sentence all at once, gazing down intently into her milky coffee.
