A cold prickle ran up Elena's spine when she saw Rose walk through the door and she shifted a little in her seat, wrapping her hands a little more tightly around her coffee cup.
"Hey," she replied, forcing a smile to her lips. It really was good to see Rose again. She had seemed so wretched when Elena had last been with her, so close to death, but the change in her now was stunning. She could see why Damon had... Nope. She was not going there. Not even in her mind. If she did, she wouldn't be able to guarantee that she'd stay civil.
"I'm sorry," she said, glancing down at her coffee then back to Rose. "I started without you." She made herself let go of her cup, letting her hands fall down into her lap. "I can get you one though. What would you like?" Damon had given her enough money for the time being, since he knew she really didn't like compelling people unless she absolutely had to. Where he'd got the money from, she didn't want to know but, luckily, she'd had the sense not to ask.
