Rose was admittedly nervous about meeting Elena for coffee. What are you supposed to say to the woman who (unwillingly) got dragged here and took away your sorta-kinda boyfriend and your happiness? Realistically she knew it wasn’t Elena’s fault, and Damon and everyone had warned her that while he was damaged and broken inside, he still very much loved Elena. She had nobody but herself to blame for her current heartbreak.
What sucked is she had lost everything in the process: she had lost Damon, in choosing Damon to start off with she had damaged her friendship with Lexi and Lee possibly beyond repair. Now that Elena was here, Damon barely even spoke to her! So much for even being friends, she supposed.
Still, she couldn’t blame Elena, as much as it would make things easier, she couldn’t blame Elena. She hadn’t even been the one to break up with Damon and leave him broken and hurting anyway, so it was almost as if Rose and Damon’s entire relationship here was founded on a lie. She supposed she should be glad (and she was) that Damon was happy, that Damon was still loved by the one person that he truly needed in his life.
Walking into the coffee shop, she quickly spotted the young doppelganger and walked over to the table, sliding in the booth across from her, giving an awkward, somewhat shy and timid smile. She had no idea how this meeting was going to go, after all.
