Who: The Bennet sisters What: Being a little bit homesick When: Sunday afternoon Where: Their apartment Warnings: If anything, Lydia might swear, idk
It hadn't really hit her until someone said something on the boards. It was Father's Day. And while she wanted to do something cute for Robin, she herself had no dad here. To be honest, Lydia rarely missed home. She had several friends there, but most were superficial. There were guys, of course, but none of them loved her, not the way Mitchell did. She had Jane here, even if she did occasionally find herself missing Lizzie. Mary, too. But she'd adjusted and honestly, if the Seal would spit out the rest of her family, this place would be close to perfect. Here, people didn't simply expect her to be some ditzy snob with a degree in polka dots earned at community college. Here, people believed in her and trusted her. Here, she was an important part of this fight.
But Father's Day? Well. Her family was weird, and a little twisted sometimes. But she did love them. And she missed her Daddy. Even at his goofiest, he was a vital part of her life and she loved him. She sometimes wondered what her parents would think of her life now. No one had expected her to become much of anything and here she was, a successful job that would hopefully change lives, a man who, despite his past, loved her in spite of everything, and a 3.4 GPA in a state university. It was, she hoped, something that would have made them proud. Well. Maybe not her mom so much. Her mom only cared if her girls had rings on their fingers, preferably from men with loads of money. Lydia had one with few prospects as far as long term jobs went, and she'd never be having kids with him. But her dad...
She walked into Jane's room and flopped down on to the bed with a flourish. It was almost like home that way. The overdramatic baby sister flouncing about while the older, more tolerating sister simply put up with her. All they needed was Lizzie trying to intervene that Lydia shouldn't be bothering Jane. "You know what today is?" she asked Jane, dropping her head into her hands with almost dramatic flair.
