Who: Caroline and Klaus
Where: Australia
When: today
What: someone had a breakdown, kinda still having one, but Klaus has come to help with it
Status: in progress
Caroline had been a little happy for about five minutes after getting off the network with Klaus. But then all of the doubt onslaughted her again, twisted and turned, warping everything and she wasn’ even certain she’d had an actual conversation with him by the end of it. It was probably all just a dream, a way for her head to try and keep her from slipping over that precarious slope she was edging along, one misstep and she really didn’t know what would happen. She didn’t want to find out either so she held onto that little bit of control, gripped tight the last bit of hope she had.
Hope was a powerful thing, she knew that well. It was all she had when she’d been caught by the werewolves and tortured mercilessly by them. It was all she had when her father had tortured her, trying to fix her. Or when Alaric had done the same. She’d almost run out of it when she’d been dying on her bedroom bed on her birthday that one time, it’d been slowly slipping away, but just like that Klaus had walked in and she felt it shine again, if anything it had gotten brighter, not that she’d told him that. But how could it not with his murmured words about beauty and the world. How could she go quietly into the night when all she wanted was to see the reality of the world.
But she couldn’t seem to move, kept herself tucked up under the covers, the outside world shielded from her with the curtains drawn, letting no sunlight in and the hotel staff compelled to leave her alone. She’d drank her last blood bag and was trying not to think about how she’d need to get more soon which sucked because she wasn’t certain she could even manage to leave the hotel without feeding from someone. And she didn’t want to kill anyone. Caroline didn’t think she’d be able to stop in her current state of mind though and so she wasn’t chancing it.
She’d just move onto the liquor cabinet.
Once she got out of bed.
Until then she’d just lay underneath the covers, eyes closed, and hoping their network talk had been real and Klaus would find her soon.
