Who: Elijah Mikaelson
What: Elijah comes to a realization
When: After Ruby's harsh, but truthful comments towards him
Rating: Low
Status: Complete
Elijah pulled back after responding to Ruby’s message, feeling oddly…numb, and very much put into his place. Her words echoed into his head like a ton of bricks: No offence but if you loved her, you'd stop your family being jerks to her.. She was right, she was absolutely right. In Elijah’s obsession to try and get his family to accept Katherine, to get her to redeem herself and become beloved, he was once again doing the one thing he shouldn’t: he was trying to change people.
The truth of the matter was that his Katerina had done awful things in the past 500 years. Maybe Klaus was right, maybe it was stupid to blame themselves, she was responsible for her own actions. While some of the citizens of Lawrence and his families sheer dislike was completely justified of her, the way he allowed people to speak to her, to treat her was shameful to say the least. He was going to put a stop to that here and now. No more trying to change Katherine, because that is who she was now: Katherine. Katerina had been dead, gone and buried for 500 years. It was pointless to chase after the ghost of the girl he had loved once upon a time. It was Katherine he loved now, Katherine that mattered to him, Katherine who he wanted to spend the rest of forever with.
His family would never understand, nor with his friends, but to hell with them. Katherine had hurt him once, but it had been to help a friend. It had been questionable and downright STUPID, but she had done whatever she can as a meek, powerless human to help someone she cared about. If that didn’t show him that she was trying to change…
A decision firmly placed into his mind, he opened his laptop again and sent an email to his girlfriend. He knew she was likely busy, but if on the off time she saw it, she would know how he truly felt….
