Scott & Stiles; Scott's return to Lawrence!
Wednesday afternoon, April 20, 2014; Streets of Lawrence
PG-13ish (dark ideals, but mostly overview); Complete
Slowly, in a sort of fuzzy haze, it started coming back to him. Lawrence. He was in Lawrence, Kansas.
Scott hadn't had the best time recently. With his best friend possessed by an evil spirit, things had really gotten insane. But finally, they had come to a head. Finally, it was all over. But not without some losses, on both sides. And there was some strange part of him that felt like he knew that all too well, like he had been through something similar before. He ignored it, brushed it off and moved on.
Or, well, he tried to move on. That was so much easier said than done, though. They had lost Allison. Allison, Scott's first real girlfriend, his first love. And she was gone. And so was Aiden. And there was a part of him that wished he could just forget it all, turn away from it and not even care any more. But he knew if he didn't care, he wouldn't be him, and that was far from okay.
The recent weeks had been very hard to deal with. Trying to get back into the routine of class and lacrosse practice and homework while memories were surrounding him literally everywhere in that school, hell, in the whole town. There was next to nowhere in town he hadn't been with Allison at one point or another. And okay, so he was trying to move on and Kira was cute and kind of completely adorable and he liked her. He did. But...there was a part of him that felt like if he really let himself be in a new relationship, he was letting go of Allison. And he really wasn't ready for that. So, they were just in this weird limbo and he wasn't sure what to do about it.
Stiles still had crazy amounts of guilt for everything that had happened, blamed himself no matter how much everyone assured him it wasn't his fault. Scott supposed he'd adjust, he'd find a way to get past it, eventually...but he probably wasn't ever going to truly believe it wasn't blood on his hands. The pair had been staying around each other even more than usual lately. It was one of the only things that was even keeping Scott sane these days. That was the thing about having a best friend like Stiles, though. Scott always knew that he would be there for him, and he was pretty sure Stiles knew the same of him.
He dropped his bag on the floor once he was in his bedroom. Stiles would be over in a little while, but until then, he just wanted to relax for a bit. Scott collapsed on his bed with a sigh, throwing one arm over his eyes as he just tried to void his mind of any thoughts.
When he opened his eyes, though, he frowned as he realized his surroundings had changed. A cemetery. No, not just a cemetery. He knew this place. But how? Why? Scott scrambled to his feet and looked around, trying to piece it together. And slowly, in a sort of fuzzy haze, it started coming back to him. Lawrence. He was in Lawrence, Kansas.
He took off in a dead run away from the graveyard. If he remembered correctly, and if they were still here, the apartment complex that Allison and Lydia and Stiles were in was in this direction. Where he had lived once upon a time. But it was months ago now, wasn't it? He wondered how much time had passed here. Nevermind. He would find out everything he had missed just as soon as he got to the complex and found his friends. Or a computer. Whichever he happened to come across first.
