“Well, well, well, I bet someone’s ears were burning.” Were the first words that Tom heard when he entered the pub. It was his friend’s voice, but not. There was something different about it. He knew it meant that it was Bad Hal. But, all the same, after he had dispatched the newly made vampire minions, he had to ask. “Who are ya? Good Hal, Bad Hal? I need to hear you say it.” And when the reply came, that his friend was dead, his heart sank. He knew what he had to do, but he had to be sure, had to know that there was no hope, no way to bring Good Hal back.
“So, you woke up and killed Natasha?” And yet even this Hal wouldn’t admit to that. Said she’d killed herself. But why would she do that? He realised now that it was always going to end up like this. No way he could have prevented it. “Your Hal put up a good fight. To be fair, he loved you both very much.” Tom found that hard to believe. “Nah, he thought I was stupid.” But, apparently Good Hal didn’t think he was stupid. But this Hal, this Hal did. Why did his Hal have to go, he was kind and clever and odd. But, he knew what he had to do. This Hal couldn’t be allowed to hurt anybody else.
They were surprisingly, evenly matched. Considering that Hal was an Old One. But, Tom had been killing vampires all of his life. And this one was important. Eventually he managed to overpower him, and chuck him off the pool table onto some table and chairs which broke and scattered. He jumped down from the pool table, and pinned the vampire to the ground, stake in one hand. But, he hesitated, not sure if he really could kill his friend. “God, you’re predictable.” Hal smirked. Ok, yes he could kill him. Doubts over, the werewolf went to shove the stake through the vampire’s heart. But, between one blink and the next, Hal was no longer there. Tom was confused. Where had the bar gone, why was he outside?
