"But they're wrong," he said softly, "humanity, it's brilliant. The advances, the inventions, the emotions... all of it. I love what I am, revel in it, but I don't turn that part off for a reason. I never want to lose that part of me." He smiled slightly, glad she didn't seem to mind his hand in hers.
"You had every right," he said, looking up at her, "every right in the world to yell at me, but you didn't, and I can't say I really get why. Can't say I'd have done the same, if the situation were reversed. All the best things are a complicated mess."
And for a second, when she almost seemed to hesitate, he thought he'd screwed up. But then she was kissing back and he grinned, nipping at her lip. Corrupting the angel was going to be fun.
