James tugged on a shirt he usually wore for exercising and training before he finished tying his shoes and headed out to the parkour course he had wished for. He didn't regret that wish. And while he kinda did want that Corvette his mother drove in the most recent movie about their lives, he could wait for it. He would wait for it. Because like he had told his mother the day previous, he had no idea on how to drive. Though if his mother couldn't teach him and his father was god knew where, maybe someone else who was displaced could teach him. Or he could look into driving schools. He smiled a bit that and slipped into the course and grinned. He had run this course several times since getting it but there was so many ways to make the routes different and new and challenging. And after seeing how agile his parents were in that movie, he wanted to push himself to do better. He wanted to make them proud of him.
Above all though, he wanted to prove to his father he was worthy of carrying the shield.
Taking a sip from the bottle he had gotten on his way out, he set it to the side and did a few stretches before he began running. Wall running and leaping onto other platforms he gained some height to the second story and paused to look over the course he could take that would be challenging. Gauging a route and how difficult it might be he grinned and began running along the edge of the building, his eyes determined. Leaping off of an edge he grabbed a flagpole and used it to swing across to another ledge and tuck and rolled up to his feet and kept going, his shoes pounding on the simulated roofs. He kept leaping from ledge to ledge, pushing himself to go faster and harder even as sweat began dripping down his face. He had found exercising was a good way to keep his mind off of things. In this case his father.
James knew his father was still around, they would have noticed if Steve was gone. But James felt a little hurt that his father didn't want to get to know him. At least that how it seemed. To be fair, learning you were going to have a son with a woman you didn't know all too well was enough to make anyone stunned and stay silent. Yet James felt...hell, he wasn't sure how he felt to be honest. A bit hurt yes but at the same time he could sort of understand the reasoning. After all when he had shown up he hadn't believed that his mother was alive and here (even if it was a different version it seemed of her). But they had gotten to talking and now he had her. He didn't expect things to go like that with his father, that wouldn't be fair. And hell, he wasn't expecting Steve to be all fatherly right away, or if ever. All he wanted was to just to get to know Steve, maybe do some training with him, learn from him in how to use the shield to the best of his abilities. Because try as he might, James could only do so much training with the shield on his own. Having his father there to help him with it, to learn the best ways to use the shield in combat situations, that could be beneficial.
Leaping off of a ledge he reached out to grab a pole to slide down but missed by mere inches. He tried to reach out and grab another ledge but they were all just out of his reach. He twisted his body and grunted in pain when he hit the ground with his legs and fell back, panting as he felt the dull throbbing in his leg. He stayed where he was to catch his breath, staring up at the ceiling.
