WHO: Fred Burkle and Lorne
WHEN: Two days ago.
WHERE: Her apartment
WHAT: Hanging out, catching up. Lorne's missed his Freddikins.
Ratings: It's Lorne and Fred .... R. :-P PG
STATUS: Closed/Incomplete

Lorne was so happy that Fred was here in Lawrence with him. Despite his first attempts to present himself as "the Host", seperate and away from the people that came to Cartitas even as he guided them, Angel and his ragtag band of heroes had managed to crawl themselves under his skin and situate themselves quite comfortably there. Which was one of the reasons why no matter how many time they destroyed his home and business he always had them back in. Why he was always there with an ear and an advice when they needed it. Even when they didn't think that they did. And although it was bad to pick favorites in this group that was good enough to include him in his family-and he wouldn't so much call it favorites as a deeper fondness-Lorne found himself with a softer spot for the two females in the group. They were certainly admirable. The two brightest spots in the rough and tumble land. Just as strong and as resiliant as the boys. At times much more so.

He enjoyed spending time with both women. They were so different but at the core of them, such Champions.

He had sent a cab to get Fred and had seen her for a short moment since her arrival but he was very saddened to say that he hadn't had quite a chance to spend time with her. He'd spent the time since then puzzling through her words. She had died? What was that about? He couldn't imagine any one of them letting something happen to Fred. And just the thought of her being hurt, let alone dead, brought a heavy weight to the air around him. Fred was a survivor in the truest sense of the word. It might seem ridiculous, but it was very difficult to imagine a situation that she couldn't weather.

Walking towards her apartment door, Lorne knocked. Because he wanted to know. Most of all. He just wanted to see her. Spend time with a very good friend.

"Absolutely not!" There was not a single second of any day in which she didn't have time for Lorne. Fred had adored him the moment she'd realized that not every green demon was out to snap a collar around her neck and turn her into their pet human cow. If more of his clan had been like him, she would've looked a little more fondly on her time in Pylea. It would have been strange and terrifying at first, absolutely, but she would have grown used to it.

Like an interdimensional student exchange program. Even on the run, she'd picked up a little of the language and the culture. But that still didn't help settle her much. It had been horrible.

But Lorne, he was one of the best friends she had ever had. No one had ever been quite so supportive, understanding, and fun all at the same time. Forget why couldn't more Pyleans be like him. Why couldn't more human beings like him? The world would have been a better place.

"I couldn't just let it sit. A day after I got here, I decided something had to be done with it." It kept her busy, her mind occupied, and felt more comfortable instead of just a temporary home, which it may or may not have been, given how that seal worked. "I think I still need to touch it up a little bit more but it's better than blank walls." She'd even found a Dixie Chicks poster for a wall in the living room.

"Can I get you something to drink? I don't have the fixings for a sea breeze but I have a couple of juices, water, and milk."
