"Fair," she said with a slight nod as she stepped closer to him. There were still a good several feet between them, but she moved slowly to close that space. "I wouldn't really expect you to show your whole hand or something." she said, a faint smirk tugging at the corner of her lips.
But that smirk quickly faded when he spoke again. The way his own mocking little smirk had fallen, the way his voice broke, it actually made her feel a little twinge of guilt. Because whether she was the cause of the immediate feeling, ultimately the way he was, was largely due to her treatment of him in the past. And as much as she'd probably do everything the same if she had the chance to do it all over, that didn't stop her from feeling that tiny bit of guilt for it. "I'm not," she said quietly, shaking her head, "I'm not going to mock you or rub your face in it. I just...I know that look. I know it way too well and I also know how it feels. And I'm sorry. I really am. Because you're not a bad guy, Damon, and you're definitely no monster." If either of them were to be classified as such, it would definitely be her.
