When the glowing thing had first shown up, he stared at it suspiciously. It was obviously some form of magic, but he couldn't work out what it was for. Or why it kept following him around. He wanted it to go away, he'd much rather have nothing to do with any magic if he could help it. Then, when he'd looked on the message boards other people were talking about them, suggesting that they granted wishes. So, potential good magic, but he'd still rather not use it, just in case. He had no idea what the price for using it would be, and he wasn't sure he wanted to take the chance.
But, he'd kept an eye on the boards, just in case, and saw what people were wishing for. It hadn't seemed to backfire yet, and you couldn't seem to be able to use the wish to affect anyone else. Which seemed like a good thing. But, he had no idea what he would want if he was to wish for anything.
Then, he was sat in the library reading a book, and it was distracting, always seeing it out of the corner of his eye. He frown at it, annoyed. He didn't want anything for himself. He just wanted to keep his family safe. Then it occurred to him, the seal could bring anyone here. What if it bought Pan.
"I wish I had the trap for Pan's shadow." And then, there it was. In his hand. A way of protecting those he loved.
