Elijah was no fool. He knew Rebekah wasn’t as well as she was letting on. Putting in a brave face so he wouldn’t worry, so Kol and Niklaus and the others wouldn’t worry, but she was still hurting, still damaged and she still needed so much love and affection and attention, to know that she was loved and adored.
Ruby’s threats didn’t bother him. The woman had had a stick up her ass about him ever since Katerina chose him over her BFF Damon Salvatore, but the fact that she was annoyed that Kol was upset over Rosemarie’s attack, the fact that she was threatening his baby sister? Walking into the stables with the intent on exercising Hades, he paused when he saw Rebekah choke back a sob. He briefly considered turning and exiting the stable in order to give her a moment alone, but instead he strode forward and pulled her into his powerful arms and hugged her tightly, kissing the top of her head and stroking her hair gently.
“It’s alright,” he murmured. “Let it all out, sweetheart. I’m here. I’m right here and nothing will ever hurt you as long as I’m around.”
