Well, he hadn't jumped up and bolted from her, that was a start. Martha honestly wasn't sure what to expect from him at the moment, if he would be calm or edgy or even aggressive. The logical thing to do might have been to have someone else with her, maybe asked Jack to come along, like he'd offered. But Martha trusted Tony. Trusted that he wouldn't hurt her, even by mistake. And besides, if on the off chance she was wrong, she was still a doctor and a UNIT soldier, she could subdue Tony without hurting him. She just really hoped it wouldn't come to that.
She let out a sigh of relief when he did take her hand, softly curling her fingers around to wrap through his, squeezing slightly to show that yes she was there, yes she was real. No matter what else he might think, she needed him to trust in her at the very least.
"Of course I came," she smiled a little, looking up at him. "I'm here for you, whatever you need. Whatever it takes to show you that you're safe now."
Not that she had a clue how to actually help with that. Jack and his many many deaths, those she could handle. Even her own brief death over a year ago, dealt with and over. But Hell? The Cage? This was all so new and different. Death had been a darkness, this was something else, something she was in no way trained for. But as long as Tony needed her, she'd be there. Because she did love him, as weird and scary as that was for her.
"Can I get you anything? When was the last time you ate?" She couldn't help it, she was fussing. "I brought your coat. It's kind of freezing out there."
