WHAT: Proving it's really her and reuniting at last.
WHEN: Yesterday, after his comm post.
WHERE: The cemetery, because that's where all the cool stuff happens!

Could a villain dare to hope? To dream of a happy ending? Rumpelstiltskin, known for so long as the Dark One, hadn't thought so. It had seemed that any time he had been happy, something else had been taken away. He had found Belle, only for her to lose her memories. He had found Bae, only for him to hate him. He had found a grandson he never knew he had, only for him to be kidnapped. Perhaps it was his penance, for all the wrongs and hurts committed, to always come so close to happiness only to have it snatched away.

That was partially why he had gone to Neverland in the mindset he had. Accepting that in order to save Henry, he would sacrifice himself. He knew of no other way to end the demon that was Peter Pan. And, just for once, the coward was prepared to do the right thing, the noble thing. Even if everyone questioned whether or not he would. The island had preyed on his fears and weaknesses, tested his resolve, and yet he had remained on path, at least until he had appeared in this place, this strange cemetery surrounded by confused people, with something of a pounding headache to boot. Instinct had taken over and he had vanished away in a puff of purple smoke, trying to get the distance and time to establish just where he was and how.

A new land.

One where, supposedly, his love was. Henry was safe. Emma had a new baby and the Huntsman was returned from the dead. Rumpelstiltskin had seen much magic in his life, so much, capable of rewriting the world, but still he was wary. Such a place seemed so impossible, a place where he could actually be happy, of course he thought it was a trick from Pan. How could he not?

Yet there was still hope. That lingering trace of it that refused to leave him. It was that hope that made him return to the cemetery to wait for the person claiming to be Belle, wishing with all his heart that it would turn out to truly be her.

Belle could only imagine the kinds of things Rumple had seen in Neverland, that world was dangerous from the little she knew. It twisted things, twisted people. And he'd had to go there, apparently to save Henry from Pan, from the monster that even Hook agreed was beyond redemption. Belle generally didn't believe statements like that, being somewhat of an expert on rehabilitation. But with Pan, well maybe. Maybe even she couldn't save him. Maybe he truly had fallen too far to be saved.

But it didn't matter now, none of it did. Rumple was here, with her, finally he'd come back and she had everything she could want from this place, family, friends, and the love of her life. She'd known of course that he'd be wary once she'd realised he remembered nothing of times before and had run back to her room, to the cabinet where she'd kept it safe, protected. Their chipped cup. Symbol of their love. Wrapping it carefully and placing it in her bag, Belle had called out to the others in the house telling them where she was going and practically ran the path back to the cemetery which just recently had seen so much horror but now, was something else, something more perhaps, as it had restored life too.

She spotted him of course even before she got through the gates, just waiting there for her, dressed in clothing she recognised more from her time at the Dark Castle than in Storybrooke. But he was still hers, he'd shown that, this wasn't just the Dark One but something had forced him to believe he had to become that again. Likely Pan. Gods she hoped she'd never have to meet him. But for now, Belle's focus was in one single place. "Rumple?" she called, not running toward him just yet but getting close enough to reach into her bag and retrieve the cup. If this was not proof that it was her and she was not a fake or a figment then she didn't know what would be. Unwrapping it carefully, Belle held it out to him.

"Told you I had proof" she said simply, smiling, as she had been practically since she'd heard he was back. "I missed you my love"

Seeing her approach made his heart skip, as it always did at the sight of his love, the beautiful Belle. And every instinct he had told him to wrap her into his arms and cling onto her, shield her from whatever dangers there might be.

If it hadn't been for Neverland, for the island taunting him so with images of her, he would have done just that. As it was, Rumple waited, hoping so vehemently that she would be able to provide the proof he'd asked for. Though quite how that proof would happen, even he didn't know. Neverland had gotten into his very mind, so asking questions, things only he and Belle would have known, that would not prove anything.

But if it was truly her, then she would find a way. The strength of their love would guide her and show him the truth. Of that he had no doubt.

So when she unwrapped that cup, that symbol he knew so well, his heart filled with joy.

"Belle, it truly is you." A look of wonder appeared on his face as he stepped forward, his fingers brushing over the cup before curling around hers. "I don't know how this is possible, but right now I don't care. I have missed you so much."

The cup had worked. As she had known it would of course, it really did act as a symbol of their love. It, like their hearts had been broken and mended time and time again but was now here with them in this strange new land, put back together, but not perfect. Still chipped. "How its possible is sort of complicated." she began, her fingers now laced with his and still holding on to the cup, the both of them. "Would you believe we got pulled against our will to another land?" she asked him just a little more amused than she probably should be at the irony of it. But for once they were in this place together. They had all they could want.

Belle would help him see it could be good here, even in spite of Hook and Regina, they would fight for good reasons, he didn't have to tell her he couldn't be with her or couldn't come back to her. No, she'd known she would see him again. She always knew, and so she had never lost her hope that he would return.

"There was a battle here recently, against an enemy I can't even begin to explain. He took so much from us here but there are plans to retrieve them, using magic of a sort. I don't really understand it but then this world is like nothing I'd even ever read about."

Which even if she did say so herself made it quite unique.

"Thing is Rumple, you were here before, with me. And its okay if you don't remember it, you don't need to, it was sort of another version of you. There's a you and me in Storybrooke still, or in...in Neverland, and if we return we resume those lives from the same point we left. But I truly hope we never return. You're here, Henry's here, he calls me Grandma but that's just, well I don't know why. Then there's baby Aislinn, she's such an adorable little thing and well, I should tell you now that Bae, he was once, but this place, if you have enough hope that you will see your son again, then you will." She wanted him to find Baelfire again with all her heart, much as his arrival might actually send Emma loopy given the presence of Hook as well. Besides, Belle thought she might like to get to know her not quite stepson.

And we have friends here. I live with Emma and some others in quite a large property, and we had a house, we were never short for money obviously but you left and living there got sort of lonely. So I allow people to stay in it. For free." she added cheekily wondering if he knew the meaning of the word. "We can be happy here." she told him, leaning her head against his chest just revelling in being back in his arms.

Rumple gave her a dry look with something of a smirk in return. "Pulled to another land, what a novel and new experience for me." With anyone else, the comment would have been cutting, but just for Belle there was humour in his voice, a softness no others ever got to hear. Also, admittedly, while he was most familiar with jumping through the realms, with beans or curses or the Hatter's hat, he usually had some level of control over where he was going. To be dragged so against his will, well that was new to him. Even the Curse, activated by Regina, had been manipulated by himself, giving him even a small amount of control.

He did frown at the idea of a battle, an enemy, and most importantly Belle being in the middle of it. "You were involved in a battle? Are you hurt? Did anything touch you?" He had other questions, about the magic of this world, but frankly those could wait until after he was reassured that Belle was unharmed in any way.

The news that there had been a him in this place before was disconcerting, but not really the most shocking thing he had ever heard. "I have no memories of this place, my love." Which she had probably already guessed. And Rumple had to smile at the idea of Henry calling Belle Grandma. "That might explain some of how relaxed both Henry and Emma were at my arrival." Bae though. The fact he had missed his son.

"Do you truly feel Bae could be returned here?" To have that chance to work on things with his son again, that was what he truly wanted. Rumple did not really know quite what the relationship between his son and Emma was, probably would never know, but that was such a minor detail compared to seeing Bae for himself again. What he wanted so much.

Still, he wrapped his arms around his love, relishing in the feel of her there, the scent of her hair. "Oh, for free?" His tone became teasing. "And you ask for nothing in return, oh Belle, have I taught you nothing?" Though it was so very her, and he wouldn't have changed any of it. She was the light, the good, and without her he only had darkness within him. Even if the idea of giving things away was just odd.

"You're here, of course we can be happy." He looked down before he softly kissed her lips.

Belle shrugged at the wit, used to it by now but still highly entertained. "Hey, I've got a house and friends and grandkids, its a step up from my last journey across realms." Of course she knew he'd be out of his element. Confused that someone had managed to get one over on the Dark One. Pull him out of his comfort zone and drag him across the worlds to this one. But here he had so much if he'd just accept it, he had her, he had friends if he'd let himself. But she'd help him get there. he usually did.

Once he'd stopped worrying about her so much. "I'm not hurt, no more than a couple of bumps and bruises that the little nature witch took care of during the fight. There were demons but I know how to fight them, there's an incantation and well, that's when Hook kind of, sort of saved me. I expect there was an agenda or he wants to hold it over you or something but there were more demons than I thought and well, seems like the Seal would have returned me anyway. As it is I'm fine." she finished, suddenly very aware that sometimes she talked too much.

"Emma's learning about her magic, she was being taught by someone called Loki, and from, well I guess from you. You've done a lot to show you've changed and they believe it. They trust you. And Henry loves his grandfather very much." As for Bae Belle nodded resolutely. "I know it will happen. I hoped for so long it would return you and it has. That's the thing about hope, you never give up on it. And I can do that enough for the both of us. You deserve to see your son again. To talk to him, to explain everything you need to. You'll get that chance, I swear"

As he wrapped his arms around her she couldn't help but giggle at the teasing about money. "Oh stop it, I'm the one that teaches you. And I'm teaching you now that two utterly lovely girls are getting a house for free. They pay the bills and all that but I didn't see the point in charging them rent when they couldn't afford to pay it. Yes yes I know its a confusing concept Mr Gold!" she teased back, leaning into the kiss. She had so much of this world to show him, so much to explain. All in time of course.

In a way, it was nice. Despite the utter confusion of the situation, the bizarre circumstances, to see Belle happy was of comfort to him. Even if hearing such a young woman talking about grandchildren was odd. Then again, Mary Margaret spoke in such terms as well. Sometimes he wondered if he was the only one to look even close to his age. "I suppose we can be grateful for such mercies, and I do approve of people being here to support you in your time of need, that is very true." Of course Belle would make friends, it came so naturally to her.

Of course, he still didn't like the idea that she had been hurt, even a little bit. "A nature witch? And how would she use magic?" Because magic always came with a price. It just depended on who paid it. "And Hook saved you? I wonder when he'll first start bringing that up on a regular basis." It didn't mean he forgave the pirate, not by a long shot. Because of him, Rumple had so nearly lost Belle, to a bullet, to the boundary.

"Loki as in the Norse god of mischief?" Now that was interesting. That such a being would teach another, and that Emma would accept that help. "Emma has the potential to be very powerful if she chooses." As for Bae, he would keep any hope he might have to himself. It was better that way, better to keep things close to his chest, especially with the likes of Regina around.

But really, giving things away for free? Why? "But I expect that they know that one day they will owe us favors in return, yes? If not in money, in something else? Or have you offered such things completely freely now?" It was weird. And strange. And completely foreign to him. Free? Madness.

Belle had known he'd worry. Once she'd mentioned the little blonde witch and her powers. "I don't know. In her world I think it comes from the earth. Its not dark, its something else. I read a book that hypothisised it was already there and all she does is kind of...act as a conduit for it. Maybe more like the fairies than you or...or anyone."

He had of course been responsible for many of the dark magic users of their world. Outside of the fairies Belle didn't know if there was anything else. Nothing she'd seen.

"Oh you've heard of him!" she said excitedly at the mention of Loki. "Yes him, there's a dozen different versions and stories and myths including some very worrying passages about a horse. But he's lovely! He sort of reminded me of you a lot, hard to get to know in the first instance but uncommanly loyal to those you decide are worth your time? I think you'd like him actually. And I know Emmma would welcome your help, she's had a hard time of it, last few months, someone particularly vile in her life. He's gone now but...I think she could do with some focus."

Belle paused for a moment. "Healthy focus. Good focus. Nothing....revengey."

She still on occasion had to specify. In the meantime though she decided she would enjoy tormenting her love with thoughts of charity.

"No favours. They needed help and so I gave help. Because it was the right thing to do." She probably should have been less amused at the look that was a mix between suspiciousness and horror. But she couldn't help it. It was adorable.

He still had so many more questions, ones he wanted to pester her with about this girl, about her powers, and if they could have harmed Belle in any way, but he forced them all down. All of them. Those could wait for another time, another day. When he hadn't just been reunited with his love.

"I have heard of Loki, yes. I have traveled many worlds, heard many of the myths." Though it seemed that the man was more than the myth, he supposed rather like himself. The fairytale that had elements of reality but was only a small fraction of it.

"Good focus. Obviously. Is revengey even a word?" He just about managed to suppress his smirk, though the sound of it came out in his voice. Rumple wondered what had happened to Ms Swan to make her need such a focus, to make her have to exorcise darkness from her life. But again, questions for later.

But really, offering such help for free? Nothing asked for in return, not even a saved favour for a later date? "We may need to discuss this later, but for now, alright, they can stay. Where might we be in this time, my love?"

That was mocking! He was mocking her! She knew that little inflection in his voice. Revengey while not perhaps a word in conventional society would do for the time being It was the best descriptor she could find for the situation. She swatted him lightly on the shoulder from where she was still entirely comfortably resting.

"Revengey is the most appropriate one I could come up with. Its been quite the day you know. The love of my life returning to me and all. Besides I'm sure its in a book somewhere" she told him. It probably was too.

And she knew, she just knew he'd sulk about the helpful charity. He was adorable when he was grumpy. But then she did think he was always adorable. "We're in Kansas. A place called Lawrence. I don't know much about it bar what I've seen and well, read. But one of their gods had been causing all this trouble but he's bound no. Or no, not gods, this particular religion only has the one. Its a little confusing but yes. I did wonder if the thing that brought us here would return us but it hasn't, and truth be told I'm glad, there's so much here, and all I was missing was you."
