THE APOCALYPSE

 photo rky0xt.gif

This is your IC Threadpost.

Please keep things labelled with character names in the subject line.

I'll be doing a few subheaders. Pre fight, Battle, Hellbound and Aftermath. Tag into any of these and if you want another subthread made ask me or MJ so it looks all tidy and whatnot.

Go forth and thread mah lovelies
I'm also gonna suggest cutting comms from the battle to the aftermath down to bare mimimum communications while the main battle threads go on to keep it a little bit real time. If you have to for time constraint reasons please mark it post battle

His words were the most comforting thing she could've asked for. That and the strength of his arms around her. She'd been scared. Even she couldn't deny that. For her brave face and sassy smirk, she was still only human. And hardly one of the ones there who had trained to become things that weren't human. She hadn't spent years under some master learning the art of swordwork or gun shooting. One week at a camp under Bobby Singer had taught her that she wasn't good at much anything except for the crossbow that was still strapped to her back. Robin had worked with her consistently and she was pretty damn skilled at it by then, but it still wasn't enough to take on Lucifer and his entire army.

Yet somehow, she'd survived. The defiant, rebellious teen had finally grown up, listening to Robin's orders and following them to the letter. He hadn't let her down and so she didn't let him down, either. And she'd made it through. And now she was able to be back in the arms of the only other man she could bring herself to trust completely.

She buried her face in his chest, afraid to cry for fear she wouldn't, couldn't stop. She just let him hold her for several moments, listening to the soothing lull of that rolling accent she loved so much.

When she finally pulled back to look up at him, she searched his eyes. He looked fine. Tired, but who out there wasn't? He did not look like a man who had been feeding, and she knew what that man would look like. And, as she always was, she was proud of him. Her hand reached up, lightly touching his cheek. "I love you," she said quietly, then leaned up on her tiptoes to brush a kiss against his lips. "I thought... It's over. It's over and you're still here. And I'm still here and we're alive and..." She broke off her words there, for fear they'd be her last before she started sobbing.

He never would have admitted it, especially to her, but there had been a part of Mitchell that had wanted to beg Lydia to stay away from the fight, to stay safely away and not be near all this death and chaos, because just sometimes it was so painfully obvious to him how human she really was.

But to think of her as fragile was a mistake. Lydia was one of the strongest people he had ever met, and no moment showed it more than right then, wrapped in his arms with her crossbow strapped to her back, looking tired but defiant. Strong enough to stand in a battle and hold her own with the archers, even ones like Robin Hood. And Mitchell was just so fucking proud of her.

When she kissed him, he kissed her back. He hadn't fed, hadn't indulged in the flowing blood all around him. Some of it had splashed on his face, stained his lips, but he hadn't lost all control. He'd been tempted, oh so very tempted, even licked a hint of it from his lip, but had resisted the urge to tear into everyone around him and drink his fill.

"We're alive and we're still here," he echoed her words back at her. "And I love you too." They were still there, but others weren't. And Mitchell still didn't know what that all meant, and he felt that strange combination of intense relief that he and Lydia were alright, with the grief of maybe losing others. Even Hal. Harry. Whatever. He took a deep breath, one that was even slightly shuddering, feeling almost like he might cry a bit himself. "We're going to be okay, we are. We're still here, we can handle anything."

Even if he'd asked, she wouldn't have listened. She couldn't have just ignored that fight. Not because she was oh so confident and thought she was some legendary fighter. No, that was her best friend's role. No, she'd needed to be there to prove something to herself. That she wouldn't be manipulated or toyed with again. That she was more than just the party girl who'd rather be drinking at Carter's than sitting in school. She had come a long way since then, and despite the fact that she'd finally settled in and found her place there in Lawrence, she still constantly felt the need to prove it to herself.

Her hands reached up, trailing through his dark hair, twisting his curls soothingly around her fingers. She took some comfort in the simple motion, knowing that he was still there. Not only weren't they dead, which was a bonus. No, the Seal hadn't interfered either. It was a blessing she couldn't have asked for out loud for fear she'd jinx everything. But now that it was there, in the open, she was entirely too grateful for words.

"You were brilliant out there," she said quietly, her eyes searching his. He had fought bravely, threateningly, and yet, she'd seen. She'd seen how he had resisted. Not only the inviting pull that Lord Harry must have presented, but blood in general. The ease that giving in would have presented. How much more fighting he might have done, how much stronger he would have been.

She kissed him again, no longer caring who or what was around them. She'd focus on all of that later. "He's gone," she added a breath later. And she didn't know how to feel about that. Hal had been one of her closest friends, a man who'd known her history and still held her in high regard. Harry, though... The things he'd done to her in his other life, the things he'd said to her and threatened her with in this one... She didn't know what to think. She was grateful Harry was gone. But he'd taken with him one of the best people she'd ever known.

He didn't know why Lydia ever felt the need to prove herself to anyone. To him she was perfect, had been since the day he met her and she hadn't been afraid of him, hadn't run away but been strong enough to stand there and hold her own, and make him better.

It was because she made him want to be a worthier man that he didn't flinch away when she looked into his eyes, Mitchell returned her gaze with a look that was at the same time shy and yet proud. He had done it, he had resisted feeding and resisted the Old One trying to tempt him back to the darkness, and he hadn't lost anyone in the process. Including himself. "So were you," he insisted in reply, and he meant it. Her aim with that crossbow was lethal, and she looked incredibly sexy when she used it. "There are people alive right now because you saved them."

Mitchell had stopped caring about who else might be around a while ago, what mattered was that he and Lydia were both there, in one piece, and in the same dimension, which was definitely a huge plus.

There was still that other matter. Lord Harry was gone, the threat the Old One had any more gone with him. But so was Hal, who had been Mitchell's friend. As weird and bizarre as the friendship had been. "Yeah, he's gone." He half shrugged awkwardly, refusing to move his arms from where they were wrapped around her. "There's nothing either of us could have done, you know that, right? We couldn't have saved him." Nor did he know if they should have. Lord Harry had been a threat, Hal wasn't. Mitchell even wondered if the man had had schizophrenia or something when human, he'd never known such a personality shift before, but any thoughts like that were irrelevant now. He was gone.
