THE APOCALYPSE

 photo rky0xt.gif

This is your IC Threadpost.

Please keep things labelled with character names in the subject line.

I'll be doing a few subheaders. Pre fight, Battle, Hellbound and Aftermath. Tag into any of these and if you want another subthread made ask me or MJ so it looks all tidy and whatnot.

Go forth and thread mah lovelies
I'm also gonna suggest cutting comms from the battle to the aftermath down to bare mimimum communications while the main battle threads go on to keep it a little bit real time. If you have to for time constraint reasons please mark it post battle

The battle itself had been nothing but a jumble of bodies, monsters, and mayhem. It was bigger and bloodier than anything Kenzi had ever gotten herself tangled up in before and it was, in short, absolutely terrifying. That didn't stop Kenzi from fighting. Because if she didn't? The world would end. Brimstone, hellfire, Lucifer's very own apocalyptic marching band playing them off to their deaths - the whole nine yards. Kenzi wasn't ready to die, nor was she anywhere near prepared to watch her friends meet such a horrible fate. So, right along with the rest of the Lawrence gang, Kenzi marched herself right on out to that cemetery and she ran out into that battlefield all too ready to defend the fate of humanity.

Which, in her opinion, sounded both incredibly dramatic and badass all rolled up into one. She could dig it. Or, well, she could if she didn't feel like she was going to get horribly, horribly killed if she wasn't careful. And so that's how Kenzi kept it. She stuck close to Team Lucifer is a Bitch as often as she could manage and, when she did find herself facing an enemy on her own, she followed everything that she learned at Camp Bobby as closely as she could manage. Holy water to the face? CHECK. Tickets to hell through a bunch of word-shaped Latin fu? DONE and DONER. Everything seemed to be going surprisingly well - for her, anyway, seeing as Kenzi had yet to be viciously ripped apart by Lucifer and/or any of his minions - when a gaping hole suddenly tore it's way through the ground and began dragging people into it's depths.

Okay. Confusing and unexpected and probably something that Kenzi and company needed to stay far, far away from. She turned to tell Vex just that, as he was the closest person to her, but midway through Kenzi caught sight of Bo. Being dragged. Straight into the same hole that she had just watched the Devil and his dick brother dive into.

No.

Kenzi dropped everything. The holy water, the knife that she had been defending herself with - she didn't need it. She'd need her hands to grab Bo, to pull her back. Her boots slammed into the dirt as she ran, using her small body to her advantage as she maneuvered between groups of people fighting. She was quick, there was no doubt about that, but Vex was quicker. Before she was able to drive herself into the same pull that was hauling everyone else into that hole, Kenzi felt an invisible force jerk her in the opposite direction.

No. No, no, no. He wasn't doing this. Not to her. Not now.

"BO!" Kenzi screamed out. She tried to overpower Vex's mesmer, but even her determination wasn't enough. The hole in the ground swallowed Bo whole and Kenzi was left standing there, trapped in the power of a mesmer, with no way to save her. Her vision blurred and Kenzi screamed again. She didn't know why she did it. Bo was gone. She was stuck. Maybe if she was lucky she'd have shouted just one chord too high and Vex would have dropped her in pain, but Kenzi didn't see that happening unless she suddenly turned into a siren.

Fun fact: she didn't.

She still kept trying to fight. Even as the hole caved in on itself and vanished, Kenzi struggle against Vex's hold on her. She didn't care if it was gone. She'd go over and dig a hole, she'd get a frickin' shovel and she'd just -

A pair of arms grabbed at her. Kenzi didn't know who they belonged to, nor did she care. She wrenched her hands into fists and started punching at them, square in the chest. "Let me go! BO! LET ME GO!"

Except they weren't holding her back. Those arms weren't there to keep her from anything. Bo was gone. The hole was gone. It was done. Over. And as much as she struck at whoever this was - and, through the angry tears in her eyes, Kenzi found that that person was Dyson - nothing was going to change that. She stopped punching and fell into the hug, sobbing. Bo was gone. Gone.

He'd known she'd struggle, he'd known she'd kill and wail and rant and be altogether too Kenzi about the whole thing. Its why she mattered after all, she shouldn't of course, little human far too caught up in Fae stuff for her own good but she mattered. Which was why he'd caught her with the mesmer and held her there and actually prayed that it would hold long enough that she wouldn't follow Bo into hell itself.

He hadn't expected her to scream like that though and it actually made him feel bad. It made HIM feel bad for not letting her swandive into hell after the succubus.

Bloody human.

He finally did let it go, let her free when Dyson grabbed her into a hug, held her tight there and actually seemed to be giving him room to come and comfort her too. Vex however was pretty sure Kenzi might actually punch him in the junk if he got too close after what he'd pulled though and he still wasn't entirely sure of Dyson's opinion of him overall so he hung back.

"We'll get her back, we will, alright, whatever it takes. But I wasn't about to let you...y'know, do that. I'm..." He wasn't sure he wanted to go with sorry. He wasn't sorry. He'd have saved Bo too if he could, he wasn't quick enough though, he hadn't noticed in time and he'd seen her slip away, he'd stopped Dyson and then Kenzi from jumping in after her. He'd not exactly thought of diving in himself, it just hadn't occoured to him that it would be something he might have done.

"Couldn't let you go too is all." he said with a shrug that could almost be apologetic if you knew him well enough. He didn't know what to do, how to react or what to say to the crying human and the still ever so growly Light Fae.

Dyson didn't care how much Kenzi punched at him, or kicked, or tried to struggle her way free. He was bigger, and stronger, and was not going to lose his tiny human. He never thought he'd actually be grateful for the power of the mesmer, but screw it, in that moment he was, because if it hadn't been for Vex, he would have lost Kenzi too, and truly had nothing left in his life.

That didn't mean he liked Vex. Just that he was grateful.

He held Kenzi tightly to his chest, letting her cry out her rage and grief. His own emotions were now tightly wrapped to himself, only showing through the faint trembling of muscles being held so much under control, and the tightening around his eyes. If he let it all go, he would break, and that just wasn't an option, not yet, not now. Though now, finally, his features did shift back to human form, the wolf suppressed at least for the moment.

"We will get her back." His voice was a low rumble, probably only audible to her, maybe Vex. Dyson couldn't be bothered to see exactly where the Dark Fae was. "We will find a way, somehow, we'll never give up on her, just like she'd never give up on us." And it was true. No matter what they did, Bo never stopped believing in any of them, even Vex really. So they owed it to her to keep believing in her and to find a way to get her back.

He kissed the top of Kenzi's head, wanting so desperately to take away her pain right then, to somehow make her okay even though he knew neither of them would be until Bo was back. He wished Hale was there, some bright idea to help or the right words to calm them down. And fuck did he wish Trick was there. The Blood King, Bo's grandfather, the one who was probably wiser than any of them. Dyson was more loyal to him than any of the Ash he had known, and he wished for his council. Also his scotch, but that was entirely for different reasons.

Kenzi buried her face into Dyson's shoulder. All of the resistance that she had put up only seconds before had dropped in exchange for the opportunity to cling to something that would make her feel like she, too, hadn't fallen into the mouth of hell and dumped into an eternity of rooming with Lucifer. Her feet may have been flat on the ground, but replaying the scene over and over in her head, remembering just how Bo had been dragged down into that cage...she may have failed at physically joining Bo in the fall, but she still felt like that cage had swallowed her whole and had left her with nothing but a jumbled mixture of raw emotion that she didn't know what to do with or how to control.

We will get her back.

It took a while for her to pull it off, but Kenzi eventually managed to peel herself away from Dyson long enough to look up at him uncertainly. In any other situation, that would have been her first response to all of this. They would find a way, fix the problem, kick some ass, save the day, get what they had lost back, do the impossible - it didn't matter how bleak or crazy that what lay ahead of them seemed. If any of the people that Kenzi cared about were involved, nothing would stop her from stepping it up and setting out to find a way to stop them from getting hurt.

But now the cage was locked. It seemed like a permanent solution to a very big problem, so how were they going to undo something that was supposed to be undo-able? And in the process, they'd risk another apocalypse and -

And so what? Dyson was right. Bo never would give up on them and Kenzi sure as hell wasn't about to start giving up on her now.

Kenzi wiped at her eyes with a sleeve and nodded. "Okay. We'll get her back." If Dyson and Vex, of all people, could muster up the strength to believe that they'd handle this, then she could, too. But that didn't mean that it was going to be easy. And who knew how long it would be until they got her back. If she was trapped down there with Lucifer...

Kenzi cast a worried look back to where the hellhole had been planted only moments before. She should have been down there with her. Watching her back. Doing what she did best. She could have been, if not for Vex. He had tossed out his mesmer hook and reeled her in, leaving Bo to face her fate with the Devil alone. Grief twinged with anger and even though, deep down, Kenzi knew that Vex had only been looking out for her, she found that she couldn't bring herself to acknowledge that he was there. Instead, she turned back to Dyson and hugged him again.
