Who: Stiles and open to fellow high school students
What: Stiles is not having a good day.
Where: School.
When: Thursday afternoon.
Warnings: Angst. Spoilers for the 3B trailers.
Status: Ongoing/Incomplete. Or works as a narrative. I'm easy. Not like that. :p

He wasn't sure when it began. It had been a long day before it even hit noon, and he'd fallen asleep at lunch, facedown on the cafeteria table alone in the corner of the room. He'd fallen asleep eating a freakin' apple. He was probably lucky he hadn't choked. Then he'd been late to class because he hadn't even heard the damn bell ring. He was that tired, apparently. His new -- okay he'd been in classes here for a few weeks now but it still felt like all the teachers were new -- teacher, Mr. Summers, hadn't been impressed with his lateness and had promptly issued him a detention. Second one of the week and it was only Thursday. Awesome. He hoped that the others were fairing better than he was with this whole lack of sleep thing.

Rubbing a hand over his face, he slumped down farther in his chair, tapping his pencil on his desk as Mr. Summers began the lecture.

"...Mr. Stilinski?"

He blinked a couple of times, looking up at the teacher uncertainly. "Yes?"

The man repeated a question that sounded a lot to Stiles like gibberish. He straightened in his seat, glancing around warily to see if anyone else had understood what the man actually said. All eyes in the classroom were on him, expectant. Impatient.

"I don't understand the question."

Mr. Summers narrowed his eyes. But this time, instead of repeating his nonsensical question, he gestured with his hands in rapid movements. What was even going on?

"I...don't actually know sign language," Stiles said slowly.

The teacher simply re-signed whatever he was trying to say. Feeling really uneasy, Stiles shifted his gaze to his classmates once more, his heart lurching as he realized they were all doing it. He blinked rapidly, rising to his feet and heading toward the door without picking up his things. He turned to look one more time. Sure enough, everyone's gazes had followed him as they continued their mysterious sign language. Was he being punk'd? Was this the thing that was going to replace the whole flash mob concept? He rubbed his hands over his face, backing out of the open door and heading down the hall, wincing when the bell rang loudly.

Blinking once more, he found himself in his seat in Mr. Summers class, sucking in a shaky breath and looking around. Nothing was happening. Everyone was working quietly at their desks. No one was paying any attention to him at all. His heart began to pound hard in his chest. What the hell had just happened? Had he fallen asleep? Because that was the weirdest nightmare ever.

Looking down at his desk, he grew still as he saw a piece of paper. Written in blue pen, in his own handwriting, the words Wake up were scrawled.

On every visible inch of the paper.

He quickly stuffed the paper into his notebook and rose to his feet without warning, heading out of the classroom and not even hearing Mr. Summer's attempts to call him back.

Was he losing his mind?

Jesse had only barely begun to not see the faces of the men that had snatched her out of her father's house every time she closed her eyes when Lucifer had started messing with everyone. The dreams came back with a vengance and they just seemed to get worse. And they were even coming when she was awake now. Waking nightmares. Something she never would have expected she would have to deal with.

But Jesse was being her usual, upbeat self as she always was. It was one of the only ways she could really keep herself sane anymore. Especially when she kept seeing her kidnappers around every corner. She tried to keep it to herself, but she was pretty sure that if no one else, at least her dad and probably Mercy could tell. Not that they'd pressed so far, but she didn't doubt they knew she wasn't quite in top form.

She had managed to get her history teacher to let her slip out of class on the pretense of "girl issues". It was always easy with the male teachers to get out of class that way. She took her bag with her, though, because she had no intention of going back. Not with him just standing in a corner watching her that way. Stupid being kidnapped. Stupid nightmares. Stupid Lucifer. Couldn't things just be normal for a minute?

"Whoa," Jesse muttered as she was nearly run over by someone barreling down the hallway. "Stiles? Hey...where're you going?"

He heard someone calling his name but the voice barely registered. It was familiar but he couldn't immediately place why it was familiar, and that brought him to yet a whole new level of unsettling. He was terribly close to just dropping his bag in the middle of the empty hallway and taking off at a dead run. He needed to get the hell out of there.

But instead, he turned, taking in a ragged breath, eyes still a little wild, heart beating way too fast. He saw Jesse looking at him with wide-eyes and he shook his head. "I'm getting out of here. There's not even a point to being here right now."

He wanted to find Scott, to find Lydia and Allison, and Derek, and suggest they all just get the hell out of town and as far away from Lawrence as they could. He wasn't sure that would do the trick, but he was willing to take the chance. Convincing them was going to be the issue.

That wild look in his eyes seemed oddly familiar to Jesse and she watched and waited as he finally realized who she was. Was he having the nightmares while he was awake now too? She supposed it was progressing roughly the same for everyone. She wondered what might be next. Would they actually be stuck in some weird dreamworld at this rate?

"Out of school or... out of Lawrence?" There was just something about the way he'd said it that made her question how he meant it. "Want some company?" That was about the best she could offer. She wasn't staying at school either, so she didn't see why she shouldn't just go with him...wherever it was he was headed.

It hadn't dawned on him that she might be experiencing the hallucinations. The waking dreams. Or whatever the hell they were. And he wasn't entirely convinced that this was all Lucifer because he'd started having the dreams while he slept before anyone else started being affected. PTSD? Darkness in his heart? Maybe all three. Either way, he was feeling like he was going to suffocate.

"Right now school. I don't know about Lawrence. I can't leave without them and I don't know if I can convince them to leave." They'd never actually turned tail (pun not intended) and run before. It had never been an option. He wasn't sure it was now, either. Running didn't feel right, but Stiles felt like he was literally losing his mind. He wasn't sure having Jesse around would be safe for her. But staying there wasn't great for anyone.

"Okay, then we'll go together," she said with an affirmative nod. She made the decision official, regardless of what he wanted or thought was best. She was perfectly capable of judging that sort of thing for herself and started walking again, expecting him to follow as she continued talking.

"Them... you mean the others from your world?" She asked, just to clarify. "Where would you go? And what would leaving even solve? It wouldn't stop the nightmares."

He followed her down the hallway, mostly because he didn't really know what else to do. He wasn't even sure if this was another hallucination or if it was really happening. And he didn't know where his friends were at the moment.

"Yeah. Scott and Lydia and Allison and Derek. And, I don't know. Maybe it would? Maybe it's something to do with the physical proximity of the devil himself?" This was so far out of Stiles' range of understanding it was almost ridiculous.

"Iii dunno," she shrugged a little at his theory. "I mean, is the devil even in Lawrence?" She asked, tipping her head slightly to the side as she considered it. "And plus, I know Rebekah was being affected and she was in, like, Thailand or something. So I don't know if that's really it. I think it's just...humanity. As a whole. Cause that's his shtick, right?"

She pushed open the door and slipped outside. "I dunno," she said again with a shake of her head, "but let's go do something to forget the crazy. Or ignore it for a second." She started walking across the parking lot. "Sooo..." she spun around to face the older boy, walking backwards. "what do you wanna do?"

"Hell if I know," Stiles admitted. "But is it all of humanity or is just those of us who are trapped here and like the Winchester's? Because no one else in my class seemed to be hallucinating just now." And as soon as he'd said it, he groaned. He hadn't meant to say it, but on his best day he had very little in the way of a brain to mouth filter.

He followed her outside, wondering what on earth they could possibly do to block out actual hallucinations. Aside from maybe getting completely hammered, which just seemed like a really bad idea right then. "I don't know. Any ideas?" He was so tired he felt like the walking dead and he'd upped his damn dose of Adderall so he could stay conscious.

Jesse shrugged a bit. "I dunno, really. I mean, maybe that part is just the displaced." She didn't like the word any better than he did, her nose wrinkling a little at the thought of it. It just made her feel crazy thinking of it. But it was what was happening, wasn't it?

She rocked back on the heels of her shoes as she considered the things they could do. "We could go to a movie or an arcade or something?" It wasn't the best suggestion in the world, but it was something.

"Arcade," he agreed immediately. It was more interactive than a movie, and he'd be able to at least focus on a game if he tried hard enough. It was one way he'd always been able to tune other things out, even without using Adderall to do it.

"How did I not know there was an arcade in this town?" He glanced over at her as they walked down the sidewalk together. "I need to play every single game there right now."

"Arcade it is," she said with a smile and a nod as they started walking again. "I dunno. You never bothered looking for one?" She suggested with a slight shrug.

"I did some general exploring after I got here when things were...less Apocalyptic." she admitted, stepping up on the curb and balancing her steps across it. "This place has more than people think."

"Yeah, I guess I didn't," he admitted, shrugging, too, as he followed her, watching as she tight-rope walked across the curb, amusement in his eyes. He hadn't seen anyone do that in awhile. "Like what?" Stiles asked curiously, momentarily forgetting the very terrifying hallucination he'd had less than a half hour ago.

He hadn't explored much of the place, really. He'd been to the school, to the library, to a couple of restaurants, and a movie theater, and back and forth between Allison and Scott's apartment and he and Lydia's. Aside from that, he hadn't been much of anywhere since he'd arrived. Now he probably wouldn't, because as much as he tried to tell himself that things were going to turn out okay, he couldn't help but think that they were probably all going to die horribly.

When the curb dropped off, Jesse hopped back down to solid ground and continued walking, as if this were completely normal. For her, it was. She was as carefree as they came and went with her whims more often than not, often to her father's dismay. "There's art galleries and I think a museum of some kind. The arcade, the laser tag place which Caroline kind of ensures we make semi-regular use of. I haven't been to it, but there's a state park and I think a lake somewhere near here too." Those were just some of the points of interest she'd come across. Given a bit more time, she was pretty sure she'd find more places of interest.

"Next time I go adventuring, you should come with me," she said, bumping her shoulder against his, smiling in his direction. That smile faded almost instantly at the man she saw. She didn't know his name, but she recognized his face. Her eyes averted almost instantly. For one, you never looked a werewolf in the eye, it was just the rule, as a mundane she was supposed to submit. And plus, she knew it wasn't really him. Just Lucifer's imposed illusion. That had been her mantra through all of this to keep herself on point. Sometimes when she was in her room at night, though, it was almost impossible for Jesse to will herself to believe that.
