Castiel is a better weapon ([info]ofthursdays) wrote in [info]wariscoming,

Who: Castiel and Kon
What: Taking back Cas' Grace
Where: Van Nuys
When: Sunday
Rating: Lowish

Castiel didn't want his Grace as much as he wanted it. It didn't fit into his new life, the life he was trying and maybe failing to make. It took him back into the chain of command. It made him a target again instead of just a sad piece of Heaven's history. None of that could matter now. He needed it. They needed it. Sam. Dean. His new friends. Most of humanity, come to that but he would have done it for one of them.

With it he wouldn't need to ask Kon to carry him. With it he would be spared most physical pain. With it he wouldn't need to eat (but he would anyway). With it he could cross behind the veil and all the places no one else could go. He could walk in dreams. He could get between. He was no longer fragile. With it they stood a chance.

He found Kon's place, knocked on his door. He hoped it was Kon who answered, feeling a little worried about how Kon's family would react. It wasn't that dangerous a mission, as far as he knew, but then he'd been ambushed in that place before. Who really knew?

To Cas Kon was just fine as he was but he would have understood, too, the need to meet those expectations, the one who did what he could for those he loved or what was the point of him? The one who tried when there was no one else who could, who would. Castiel admired Kon because he was one who was willing and, to Cas, that was the mark of a good man. Castiel didn't apply that assessment to himself but they both wanted the same thing.

Cas didn't think Kon was angry at him, when he did appear. He knew how taxing those dreams were, their situation was. Everyone they cared for was under treat, all they could do were things they didn't want to do. Cas didn't want his Grace, Kon likely didn't want to trust his dodgy powers, but they would. They had to. They'd both lost enough.

Cas wasn't used to holding hands. He tensed a bit, mostly from the warning, and braced himself. He'd flown Kon Air before and survived it. He could do it again. It was fine.

Cas didn't expect the landing and was down on his knees before he was even aware they'd landed. His shoulder smacked into the ground. It's bruise but nothing was broken. He looked around and knew where they were. It was a successful flight then. He was glad. He wasn't sure he was ready to fly it again so soon.

Cas got to his feet gingerly. "I know where it is," he said. "It will take 17 minutes to walk there from here. There is a tree. You may be able to feel it's power. It's not... of Earth." He looked up at Kon.

Kon brushed some dirt from his hair and face from the rough landing. "Sorry." He repeated again out of habit, and winced. "Guess my flight patterns a little off." He was tired, but they all were. Clark had once told him though, they had great power and a great ability to make a real difference in the world. So that was what he was going to try to do with his existence. He didn't choose to be created, but he was there on Earth and maybe for a reason, so he was going to try to do the most he could. Whether some people liked his way of going about it or not.

He tried not to take anything Jacen said to value, but he still did. Even after all this time he still wanted his respect in some deep tiny dark place. But that wasn't what this was about. This was about helping people who needed to get out of their waking nightmares. If he was starting to see things even with eyes wide open, he could only imagine others were also. Nobody deserved to live their worst days on repeat. Not even some people he disliked. That was the problem with being young and having such great power. Part of him wanted to be petty with it, and the other knew thanks to the people he surrounded himself with that he could not. Everyone deserved a fair chance at life and peace in their own minds. He couldn't pick and choose who to save. It wasn't right.

"17 minutes?..That's, er...precise. " He eyed Cas a minute and rolled his eyes as he got ready to walk, sticking his hands in his hoodie pockets. "Can't. Not yet anyway." He shrugged. "Clark probably could, our powers are a little different though." He said with a slight frown. In a way he was glad for it, but in some cases he wished they were identical. Clark had honed his powers, Kon still had a lonnnng way to go. It was a frustrating way too.

"Mine were...created. By humans." He admitted a little worriedly, he never did like the subject but he was getting used to being what he was. He was a clone, but he was his own person. Just because he had Clark's genetics didn't mean they had to be identical and that was probably a good thing. "Lead the way dude."
